Agree with everything you say except the last line.....If an EMP or solar flare every did take out the power grid and all electronics, you would see everyone become a ravening mob intent on stealing from anyone they think has something. Fortunately they would tend to steal from their neighbors. but that doesn't help you if you live near masses of people.

Agree with this. It is shocking to me how many people are simply willing to rely on what the media tells them with no thought or independent corroboration (I don't count having CNN and MSNBC say the same thing) or even relying on their own experiences. It's amazing how lazy we've become as a citizenry.

I don't buy the IQ argument at all either. I'm much more inclined to chalk it up to sheer intellectual laziness. Where once the black community (prior to the 1940's) was one of the most productive and solid in the nation, that all changed after WW II and especially in the 1960's as you point out. Since that time, they've in large part bought into the self-defeating notions that marriage is unnecessary, rebellion against authority is encouraged (including police officers and the legal system), that their only path to success is through celebrity (rather then hard work or entrpreneurship), and - especially more recently - that the rest of the world is out to get them because of their skin color.

In order to do that, you'd also have to get rid of the intelligence agencies like the CIA who provide staffing for them. ;)

What you'd actually see is the entire country devolve into utter chaos. Our citizens and businesses have become so dependent on Real-Time everything that no one has an emergency stockpile to draw from for longer than a couple of days. Supermarket shelves would immediately empty (in many cases just due to looting) and there would be no trucks running for replenishment. And those families which rely on eating out a lot would be out of luck.

I think you'd see that after a week it would devolve into complete societal breakdown with roaming gangs fighting loose groups of neighborhood citizenry groups for resources. After two weeks as more people started to starve, you'd see that desperation start to control entire cities.

After a month, you'd start to see the bodies pile up both from open fighting over scarce resources and from starvation. Why? Even as recently as the Great Depression, you still had more than 60% of the population which were farmers. That is down to 2% now. Most people have zero clue how to plan long-term for their own survival. Enter the Zombie Apocalypse.
