And the encroachment continues. I received a promo for this website in the mail. So now your supposed to allow them to monitor your car (mileage, but also speed and where you are) and charge you per mile for driving?

I'd say F* no, but we all see the writing on the wall.

also, congress is trying to pass driver monitoring devices in new cars.

    I don't know about other states but we have a really mean Insurance Commission in Texas and I would bet the government can't get this past them. In Texas you have to drive many miles going anywhere.

    I think this is coming. The system we have now, with police pulling people over by chance, bias, or other reasons is bad too. In some ways an automated system would be better. At heart I'd rather be on a wagon in the mountains where no one knows where I am, and I'm responsible for my own self-defense. But that's not where I live. So I hope there will be good systems in place to reduce abuse of the world of electronic tracking we're entering.
