My grandson just graduated from college with a 4.0 QPA in mechanical engineering and keeps getting turned down for a job in his field because he has no experience. Catch-22 there because he can't get experience without a job and can't get a job without experience. He keeps trying and I'm sure he'll land on his feet eventually.

It is a real problem, one major explanation is increasing size of corporations.
In a small business, a job needs to be done and the hirer can evaluate the applicants. In a corporation the HR Dept is a long way from where the need for a worker is. HR have their own more important criteria that are applied across the board. That's why successful applicants for jobs from marketing, research lab, to accounts, look the same, are the same age group, same facial expression, but enough of diversity. An applicant outside that cohort has to find a way to breakthrough.

Wal-mart sells a lot of Communist crap, money for which would go to prop up the government of a totalitarian slave state.

I am not saying that it is the obligation of others to subsidize me. But I am having a very hard time trying to get a job. I think a lot of it is age discrimination. (I am very strong and healthy, and I lift weights.) But if you don't fit right into people's petty, prissy, p--sy little pigeon hole, automatically they're against you.

Walmart is hiring...Home Depot...lots of auto parts retail sales, and these jobs start at $15 - $17/hour. We have kids living under the bridge over the bayou. Think I'll print out some of these and have my doctor friend who is feeding them hand these want ads around. I'll bet a lot of these kids have never had jobs. Can't hurt, might help.
