Supply Chain Issues Remind of AS

I am blown away about our "shortages" of important items, substantial inflation and big delays on things. From golf balls, to timber, to chlorine for my pool. Doing a substantial remodel at my home and I think the schedule is 3-times what is normal. Everything from toilets to cabinet doors is delayed...USUALLY WITH NO ETA GIVEN! It's just, "Well...we'll call you when it gets in."

I haven't seen anything like this since the Carter gas lines. A friend of mine paid $85 to gas up his car the other day and said, "I'm starting to miss mean tweets." Still cracks me up.

I have a house that's increasing in price $30k/month. This is ridiculous...

About a month or so ago I got a very clear sticker on the back window of my pickup. "Who is John Galt?" Perfect timing...

I had a five minute discussion this AM with my daughter comparing right now to the Carter administration. One lesson we should have learned from reading Ayn Rand is that looters should NOT be given the benefit of the doubt. Their intention is to destroy what we have worked hard to establish and earn.

part of this is due to Just in Time ordering

no company wants stuff on their shelves, waiting for people to come in and buy it

Familiar with that. I used to work at Boeing 30 years ago and that's where I first learned of JIT as a kid. Then, years later I worked for a parts maker of Boeing aircraft. I finally realized that JIT just means having your manufacturers hold the stuff...or not. Haha!

I've been noticing empty shelves in many stores now. However, in a few places I've seen boxes of goods in aisles because they can't get people to work and put the goods on the shelves. It seems most places can't get the goods and a few places can't get the goods they have on the shelves.

the increase in housing prices also means all property in the area is also increasing, which means more $$ in property taxes. Just another way to bleed us dry.

No doubt those vultures are on the wing and salivating over the coming carnage of inflation.

Edit add: My wife and I worked hard to pay off our mortgage early so we can have a more debt free retirement. However, the property taxes (royal rent on us serfs) have increased over the years so as to outstrip the original mortgage and taxes combined. This is fascism where we pretend to own something, but through taxation and regulation we really don't - the government does.

And a close look at the tax bill, if yours is like mine, shows a very large portion goes to ... wait for it ... the education system - or should I say the I indoctrination system. Grrr.

That tax thing is caused by stupidity on the part of our elected officials. How about a debt that equates to $13,500 for every man, woman, and child in the city? Our city council members think tax money is for them to play with. Our streets are deplorable. You can't walk on some of our sidewalks (tripping hazard). Most people don't drink the water. The sewer rates are unbelievable and the sewer plant is overwhelmed by continuous building of homes without expansion to the system. All this spells disaster to me. But the same jerks keep getting re-elected. Fortunately we do have term limits. But the same type of jerks keep getting elected. There are no women on the council. They won't even run for election. In our over 100 year history, we have only had four women elected and that's all been since the late1970's. And don't chime in here and tell me to run... I was the first ever elected. P. S. We incurred no city debt in the 3 years I was there and we did get an $8 million dollar sewer grant (I fell on my beautiful in the snow in D.C. going after that grant). And we sold $15 million in street bonds (paid back by sales tax revenue). No debt to our citizens for this $23 million that should have been spent on sewer and streets but maybe that didn't happen either. N

Lack of women in any political position, in my experience, is irrelevant because between the legs configuration is no indicator of what's between the ears. In spite of being lucky in having you on board the gender of incompetence for a town is still incompetence.

...and as a parent I can tell you that the public education system is collapsed and we should not be forced to pay for it. Nor should the government be in the business of education (or health care).

Where I live the indoctrination tax is mainly a separate bill besides the regular property tax. The teachers union has already (if it ever ceased) increased the whine for more, more, more more.
