Something concerning that all of us should be aware of

Today I was doing my circuit between local firearms stores searching for ammo. In one store was a 70ish man, a veteran by his words, seeking to buy a 9mm pistol. After talking to the guy behind the counter and coming up empty for my ammo, I stuck around to listen to the conversation between the old man and his attendant. All was hunky dory as the attendant asked him a few questions to complete the sale.Lo and behold the attendant asked if the veteran had a medical marijuana card? Old guy said "Yes I do."
Attendant "Sorry, I can't sell you the pistol."

It turns out that states which issue legal medical marijuana cards for ANY reason (in this case angina) are facilitating the violation of federal law whereby the feds can forbid a lawful citizen from purchasing a firearm.

Needless to say this guy was pissed. He likely walked through rice fields in Vietnam with an M16 drunk or high when he was 18, but at 70, suffering from angina, he can't be trusted with a firearm?

I was shocked. Some punk gang banger can walk in and buy a gun because he hasn't a felony and smokes dope recreationally (illegally) but this veteran is refused because of a legitimate treatment for an ailment??

Be careful the traps the fedgov sets to take away your natural rights.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I didn't know that was going on, but I'm not shocked.

It's amazing what one can learn by just listening, isn't it?

If you should meet Cliven, or family again, please add a respectful regard for their plight.

Is a safe man to guide them,
One who recognizes all men as members of his own body
Is a sound man to guard them."

I have met and spoken with Cliven on several instances and circumstances over the years. I can hear him speaking.

As usual, there is so much more behind this story than these lap dog reporters will cover. But going forward, it will be interesting to see how the apparent change in Nevada Democrat Party leadership will affect this. Cliven and the Harry Reid machine were at it for years. It will probably only get worse with the new thugs - if they are new - in charge.

Yes, it does come down to the difficult decision of compliance versus rebellion. Never mind that any federal law in this matter is null and void from the get go.

For all of us, individually, it is the cost of realizing that compliance now, invites worse in the future. It is the tough one. All encompassing.

And you think that was random or spontaneous? Lesson learned, he was told to do this to bring about the antigun narrative

If he was a bit youger, he'd be a potential Henry Bowman.
Sounds like a scene from Unintended Consequences.

The idiot that targeted Asians opened Pandora’s box.
The whole thing is being whipped into a frenzy, COVID style, as a reason to enact gun control.

I didn't as I didn't have any on me. I think he was headed to another gun shop. In Phoenix you need not go very far to find a gun store.

It is Federal law. The business was targeted by the tedgov once in the fast and furious scandal(for following federal direction selling arms, no less). They are under a microscope and have no choice but to follow the rules or lose their license. This is not a big store. Its their livelihood. I can't blame them much.

    Awesome!
Did you get a chance to offer a "Who Is John Galt?" bumper sticker?
....to be placed upon the vehicle AFTER the "transaction" is complete.

Next store, declare "No". Lesson learned. Deal with the potential of "discovery" if it should arise later.
