First paragraph: "Columbia University is planning to hold six additional graduation ceremonies for students according to their race and other aspects of how they identify."

Sounds like something from The Onion, but sadly, it isn't.

You'd think there would be a way to make a buck off this trend. I've often thought if I'd paid more attention to this type of trend since back in the early '80s I'd have millions more in my portfolio.

Follow the money. As in keep a close eye on the members of the "Black Congressional Caucus" and what minority small companies they get chummy with. Buy long when a connection develops and sell short as soon as the con-gress critter bails or the enterprise becomes yesterday's news. The same applies to small green companies.

I've spent a lot of my investment time looking for and researching good companies, but now in the winter of my lifetime I realize all I really had to do was closely follow the politicians and speculate the hell out them. Alas, I don't do the market anymore so I don't care anymore, but for a younger person this strategy is probably worth pursuing.

So much for the assimilating into society theory ... how many different “divisions” will it take before the tribes declare war on each other.

People resent being made to look foolish. I am talking about those who voted for the wrong President. Now tax increases, higher gasoline prices, food prices, etc. This resembles a powder keg. When will someone light the fuse?

The way I see it, 25n56il4, is a large percentage of the population is foolish. In fact they are downright stupid and have no clue as to how foolish they look and don't have enough wherewithal to even care. They do, however, have strong Marxist-like convictions (they're too stupid to really know why) and believe all their problems and the problems of the world all stem from greedy capitalist pigs and taxing and slapping such pigs around to "spread the wealth" is a good thing. They will tax-slap-spread until there is nothing left and they will still blame everyone but themselves. Anything they do to further their cause from voter fraud to destroying and even killing people that disagree with them are all good things and are seen as victories against oppression of some kind. This is what rational people are up against. Ayn Rand nailed all this in much better words than I use.

I'm not sure whether or not to call this karmic or ironic, but I will definitely call it tragic. It is most unfortunate that people have been able to convince so many black Americans that the color of their skin is more important than the fact that they are American.

PS - I will also note that these people are not "African" Americans. Africa is a continent - not a nation. "African-American" is a contradiction as it attempts to pair two different continents. It is also an oxymoron as less than 1% of these people have ever been to Africa, let alone hold dual-nationality with any of the various nations of Africa. We don't call people "Chinese Americans" or "Japanese Americans" or "Canadian Americans" or anything else. If you are American, it means you are a citizen of the United States of America no matter what your racial heritage or ancestry. Let's put away the divisive terms that encourage people to self-segregate. Or encourage them to simply leave and see how great it is somewhere else.

"African-American" merely indicates that the person's ANCESTORS come from Africa. They don't need to ever have been there. And yes, I do call people "Chinese-Americans", ...

How far back does this ancestry have to go before one is entitled to be called "African-American"? There are plenty of white people whose ancestry for many generations, even centuries, have lived on the continent of Africa and then came to America. Are these white people entitled to the "African-American" moniker? Also, what of all the non-negroid peoples of North Africa who have lived there for millenia? Are they not entitled to the moniker "African-American" if they emigrate to the US?

"African-American merely indicates that the person's ANCESTORS come from Africa. They don't need to ever have been there."

But why? We don't use that nomenclature for any other ethnic group. The entire point of America was that you LEAVE the culture and heritage behind and come to America. You adopt America's heritage. You adopt America's culture. And in turn you become American - and just American.

"And yes, I do call people "Chinese-Americans"

Why? (Honestly asking.) Aren't you merely making an assumption based on their physical characteristics?

I see your point - those terms are divisive, and not very accurate. But what would you use in their place to describe their differing origins, backgrounds, complexions, etc? Isn't it necessary in order to compile statistics on crime, for example?

How long until Whites are put on Reservations? Maybe we should just save them the trouble. Give them MORE of what they want. LESS of us. But, somehow I’m sure that’s racist. Purely due to the pigment of my skin.
The leftist solution to racism? Racism harder.

“The leftists solution to racism ____racism harder”
Right on point. Back during the civil rights movement’s in the 60’s ,the main focus was on prejudice. Judging a group of people on the actions of a few...sound familiar you deplorable white supremacist. The left loves to invoke the great Dr MLK, but they never talk about
“Do not judging people by the color of their skin but on the content of their character.” So in effect King knew it was ok to judge someone just to have a basis for that judgement. That would make
Michael Brown and George Floyd and others like them punk criminals and pariahs of society.

Good observations. And George Floyd WAS a punk criminal. Between '97 and '05, he was convicted of eight crimes, serving 4 years on a plea deal for ag robbery and home invasion (source: wikipedia). It's been nothing short of infuriating watching the media paint this asswipe as nothing but a victim. And if I remember correctly, the entire incident that literally changed the country was started when he tried to pass off a fake $20.

Not Equal. Equitable. The new goal is Equity. Equality as equal Opportunity is passe. Equity as equal Outcomes is the new mantra.

....I should be a nuclear engineer if I want that outcome. Educating myself to be such is irrelevant and discriminatory....

I am so tired of all this race stuff. I could care less what race a person is, but I care a lot about the culture the were raised in and currently adopting. I want to live around my own "kind", which means my own culture. If the government doesnt like that, too bad.

This is really becoming sickening! Don't those educators know that "Racism" is an irrelevant term. We are all of the same race "Homo Sapien Sapien" now if there were still Neanderthals or Homo Habilis still around then that word could apply because they are a different hominid species.
