I was watching some youtube videos of FLASH MOBS, showing impromptu dance and singing groups collecting and performing in airports, shopping malls, etc. I wonder IF we will ever have those again. It was great watch people just enjoying a good performance.

I think that a lot more people have become uninterested in sports. After all, its really a waste of time watching OTHER people play sports.

Recall watching Bama home games in the stadium during that decade when all in a sudden I'd catch a scent of whiskey. Then I knew someone had opened a flask near to my seat.
Such scents gradually became rarer and rarer until about 2010 when Type 2 Diabetes had messed with my feet too much to go to those games.
Since I almost always had to drive home for an hour after games, I'd do my drinking tailgating before the game so it would wear off during the game.
Pre-and-post game traffic was so packed between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham that I wanted a clear head. Saw countless games. Never had so much as a fender-bender.

My only experience attending pro games was much later in LA when the Raiders won the Super Bowl ('84) and a few years after that. The Coliseum was so large that 50 yard line season tickets (in the nosebleed section, of course) were quite reasonable to buy, about $10 per game, iirc. The Raiders never really had a big following in LA even having won the Super Bowl there. Not long after that I lost interest in pro football as the fans were no longer important to players or owners.

Mom and Dad Both were at that game...the memories bring tears to my eyes and later it was me, brother, his friend and Dad....can you imagine for $129 for a season we had all the regular and 2 pre season games....Monday Night game with the Skins was brutal : ))

'70 was a great time for the Colts. Unitas was a fantastic QB in the golden era of pro football.

Yes, I remember having to hide my flask when I was going to Ga Tech football games as a student in the 70's. At the time, having a flask was required to survive the incompetence of the coaching and playing at Tech.

What was memorable is that was the only time in my life when I was in a sports stadium where beer was served. That ain't done in stadiums with a section for college students.

When it comes to spectator sports, I am oft fond of saying "I would rather watch monkeys fornicate." (except I use a different single syllable F word at the end there). I might also toss in "you remember Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom on TV back in the 70's? Man, those primates sure could get it on."

More to the topic though -- I do whatever I can, wherever I can, to ignore these small silly control freaks -- Or I point in their direction, smile and laugh.

Me dino be a rabid University of Alabama football fan (when younger used to attend home games in Tuscaloosa) who has always found the Super Bowl to be boring for not caring about any of the teams. Last time I watched the Super Bowl years ago I was more entertained by the humorous new commercials that I was going to see over and over later anyhoo.
Here in the Birmingham area there's a minor league baseball team called the Birmingham Barons but I've never watched any of their games for lacking any interest in even major league pro sports.
Saw an Atlanta Braves game at the stadium once when visiting a brother who used to live in that city. Only things I recall was that the Braves won (yawn) and the beer was good (yum).
I call basketball "watching the armpit sport."
Oh, I was gonna make a joke about Super Bowl spectators cheering as loudly as they want with plastic bags over their heads tied about their necks but decided not to because it wasn't all that funny. Oops.

Fully agree. Never did like the canned laughter on sitcoms, always felt that I was being told when to laugh. Even during some “live shows” in front of an audience , so I’m told, they use que cards to que the applause etc. it’s all phoney and only for entertaining the unthinking masses.
