The seniors in my community are getting pushed out of their homes with these tax hikes. Many have lived in their homes for 20+ years and are now on fixed incomes. They can't afford to pay the property taxes being assessed based on these inflated property values.

The bigger issue is that they shouldn't HAVE to move in the first place. They're being forced out of their homes because of artificially-inflated taxes.

Good thing "seniors" (presumably retired) are free to move to less expensive abodes. The Midwest is full of little towns that are dying, so have lots of very inexpensive housing for those who do not have to be close to where they make a living. New Yorkers should consider it if they can tellework.

Me dino recalls a place like that in Mississippi toward the end on my newspaper reporter seven years. Blacks treated their only white neighbor there like that and the year was 1980. So much for integration.

What does the private market support for a similar opportunity?

Government subsidized and still >$1,000 per month? In Texas? CA or NY I can see. Texas...that's ridiculous, especially with no place to park and no security.

That's cheap rent where I'm living right now. Because of all the Californians moving in the last few years, real estate prices have DOUBLED and even TRIPLED. The tax man now says my home has appreciated in value 250% from when I bought it less than ten years ago - despite the fact that I have no plans to move and realize that "value." Average homes of only 2800 sq ft are going for $450,000 CASH and its common to see 20+ offers on the day of listing. It's insane. And when you realize that wages can't support that kind of a mortgage, you understand that it isn't people in my home State buying things up.

Oh, Says the social worker, you want security? We have a contract with Antifa and that’s only $1000 more a month....

It's inconceivable to me that they would encourage seniors to move in to this apartment project with no security whatsoever. I didn't see emergency lighting in the hallways. I fear for my guy friends who live there thinking they are safe.

There is no security for parking your automobile. One of my friends had all his tires slashed. There is no security, only a young lady manager. Anyone can enter the premises at any time. True it isn't at this time a dangerous area but it may not always be.
