Substitute CCP People's Liberation Army (PLA) for Soviet divisions deployed in the 1987 miniseries, and you have a very real scenario for events that transpire after DNC victories in the Georgia run-off, and Biden-Harris overplay their hand by launching the mandatory gun buy-back/$200 taxed firearm registration program that numerous Democrats have already championed.
I believe that severe infringement of gun rights is the only issue that would lead to insurrection in many states of the Union. Even packing SCOTUS and bringing in D.C. and Puerto Rico as new states to improve DNC power lack the direct emotional impact of losing gun rights that have been cherished for generations in many parts of all U.S. states.
To quell a resulting insurrection that spreads even to the point of mutiny in segments of U.S. military, both active and reserve, Biden-Harris call in deployment of the Chinese PLA to help put down the uprising. The Chinese PLA slaughter the American insurrectionists and mutineers, then depose Biden-Harris and the Democrat/deep-state government, replacing it with a puppet regime fully compliant with Xi Jinping and the CCP. The U.S. is divided into zones for easier control (analogous to the geographical division portrayed in the Amerika miniseries and in the Fire Starter/Hunger Games movies).
Of course I hope this scenario doesn't become reality, but the likelihood goes up very substantially with Democrat victories in the Georgia senatorial run-off elections leading to heady overconfidence.
