What? A school opened without mask mandates, distancing, or any other nonsense AND IT WENT JUST FINE? It can't be! [/s]

    It's nice to see high schoolers skateboarding down the street and walking in groups, laughing. At our high school the music starts at class break time and when it stops everyone is back in class. Awful music though.

    The Democrat Socialists in Nevada would say this is a figment of someone's imagination. I applaud any school that would do this. Our students had the option of in=school or home-school Most chose in-school. They look happy.

    The experts for the past month have been saying schools can be opened.

    At the beginning we were worried about the hospitals becoming overwhelmed with high-risk patients getting it all at once. We didn't know that kids, esp 10 and under, don't tend to contract and spread the virus. We wanted to flatten the curve. Somehow that has insanely turned into the goal of no one contracting the virus at all, which is impossible.

      Europe never closed down their schools. They ran all last summer. But when this fact - and the fact that none of those schools had a single case of transmission at the school for three months - was brought up to Dr. Fauci himself, he still disregarded the evidence and lied that schools should be shut down.

        The question of schools cannot be decided by epidemiologists. I don't get the contempt for experts. I'm not surprised that epidemiologists recommended less contact to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Somehow, though, in my area we've adopted the idea that until disease is eliminated we must follow all practices to minimize spread. My kids' public schools are not open. I have had it with this level of risk aversion. I'm almost ready to accept leaders who reject experts out of hand (or after they took a look at jourals outside of their areas of knowledge) if it will bring common sense back. In my area we're shooting an ant with an elephant gun.

            To me it seems like we've gone insane with risk aversion, and we the loudest argument against that insanity is the insanity of demonizing people and conspiracy theories. I wonder if a) foreigner provocateurs are behind it, b) technology gives a platform to people who would never have been published 25 years ago, or c) if this is an epidemic of loneliness brought on paradoxically by being so connected.

              Agreed. Life is one big risk and every day has choices of risk. To argue that we can encapsulate ourselves in bubbles to avoid anything difficult or challenging in life is absurd.

              And if one wants to confront a conspiracy theory, all one needs is the truth.

              I do agree that technology has definitely made it easier to publish content and get it heard by others. I also don't doubt that that same technology substitutes in many peoples' lives for healthy personal relationships. ;)
