Crazy or Senile?

Staying sequestered: Yes, I've got a computer, a music keyboard, and a TV with 3 or 4 streaming services.I have a nice house with a powered recliner that I practically live in a great room with vaulted ceilings. Still, I feel like a captive Confined because of a pandemic and old age. While sitting in the recliner for endless hours, I have time to think. Thinking can be a dangerous occupation.I can only expect son Steve and his wife, to show up now and then. They have their own lives to live. So.....back to thinking.
While watching one of the innumerable Universe programs on Netflix, I started thinking about the formation of the stars and the vastness of the universe. Let me see if I've got this straight. Feel free to correct me. After all, I'm 86 years old so I'm entitled to some memory loss not to mention comprehension difficulties. The more I thought about the way we're told that stars are created, and as a result the rest of the cosmos, is the following: First there's the Big Bang where hydrogen atoms are created out of...well, out of nothing. This basic atom contains a nucleus with a proton and neutron, and one electron revolving around the nucleus. That's all there was except in enormous amounts, but there's so moch space in space that it took up hardly any room at all. After a billion years or so, the universe kept grinding out hydrogen until, finally gravity started to take over.It started the atom coalescingcausing friction and bumping up against one anotherreleasing energy and building more complex atoms which eventually led to a process called fusion igniting the stars and turning the universe into what we view today.

Have I missed something? Is that the way it happened or it just the way scientists like to say it happened because it makesthye math works. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a load of horse poop. The way the universe seems to be put together is by a craftsman who encounters problems as he goes along correcting the problems and any collateral damage as they keep appearing.Once he (or better yet, it)gets it working it can always go back and correct it with a better solution later.Or something more advanced. For example the 1910 Ford Model T as opposed to the 2016 Ford Taurus. This leads us to a creator.of the universe. If there is such an entity, I doubt it would be anything in what is portrayed in any earthly religion. We are now moving into an entirely different discussion, although somewhat related. It's too tempting to turn the above into satire, So I guess I'll quit now.

Neither senile nor crazy. Nobody knows how the universe was created, what happened and when .. with any certainties. That’s the problem as there are numerous scientific theories and numerous creation stories throughout the cultures and religions. So you are neither correct, crazy, nor senile. Hope you can sleep better now. And one last item, the hydrogen atom only has a proton and an electron- it does not have a neutron. So if the cosmos was initially all hydrogen.... where did the neutron come from? Don’t loose sleep over that one either. Some mysteries of life will never be solved by man due to his limited thinking and dimensional construct.

Remember the old Moody Blues song? "Thinking Is The Best Way To Travel" was in the lyrics.

The universe can be found everywhere. Even in a swirling rotating football. However, I think your time was better spent as you describe rather than the stupor bowl.

I am looking forward to the latest greatest version of the universe!

I'm a bit younger than you, Herb7734, but I've nestled back in my recliner and contemplated similar thoughts. I think the scientists, philosophers, and the priests all missed something and I'm sure there's a lot more to this universe than meets the eye. Keep thinking. It can be relaxing.

OK. Here's something weird to contemplate. Are you familiar with Dark Energy? Some bigbrains say such a thing exists because it's the thing that keeps the universe expanding. What it is, nobody knows, but it must exist, because otherwise the universe would either be in stasis or regressing back to the big squish. Another thing that is a mystery, is consciousness. All we know is that it is a form of energy inhabiting bodies, and existing whether or not it has an entity to occupy or not. Could it be that consciousness becomes dark energy when it is freed from a no longer functioning body? Pretty fantastic stuff. Could be the ole for a SciFi book or movie.Or, could be true. Any inventive physicists out there who can translate a thought experiment ala Einstein into a theory complete with the equations? Might be fun. Especially if you have access to a super computer.

Being a science fiction fan, I sometimes think about what a truly advanced race would think of some of our scientific theories. In particular, I imagine a spaceship full of ET's hearing about 'the uncertainty principle' of quantum physics, and rolling in the floor laughing.
