The terms "Facebook" and "Election Integrity Program" are mutually exclusive terms.

Problem is, like others have indicated, if the media is supposed to be the watchdogs, who's watching the watchers? It truly is a fox/hen house scenario.

I don't remember where I saw this, and if it was suggested by someone in the Gulch, I hope he/she accepts my apology for not giving the credit that's so well deserved.

But someone suggested that the government seize the domains of Facebook, Twitter, et al and render them useless until they agree to remove their censoring.

This is election interference in its most obvious form, and is absolutely 100% provable in court; as much as I hate the concept of governmental intervention, in this particular case, I can easily justify it.

I might prefer an antitrust approach. Giving the Government the power is less interesting that forcing competition.

Since Trump is not a Libertarian, one might see his pursue breakup if he is reelected.

Changing the law might have the opposite effect of making it more difficult for the upcoming competition. Most laws are supported by the big players for that reason.
Gab is the most obvious free speech competition and they are lobbying the administration NOT to change the law for that reason.

If it was June, I would agree; there would be time to bring this all out and (hopefully) force their hands. But since the election is only 14 days away, forcing the issue now feels like the right thing to do.

As I see it, blatantly trying to influence a presidential election is a drastic measure; drastic measures call for drastic actions.

If exposure of Bidens' criminality, and the tech giants' coverup of it, will markedly increase Trump's voter turnout or cause some Dems to pass up voting, then it could help Trump. I doubt it. Unless there is an almost immediate major breakthrough in bringing verifiable evidence before the voters, it's already too late.

The only way Trump can win this election is to have Republican voters turn out like they've never done before. He pulled this off in 2016 with the right number of votes in the right electoral states against Hillary who many Democrat didn't even like and stayed home. Of the voting age population, which unfortunately also includes non-citizens, the highest percent voting in a presidential election over the last 20 years was 57.1% in 2008 (Obamamania vs Milktoast McCain); lowest was 49.0% in 1996 (Mr. Bill vs Dull Dole vs Peevish Perot) for a 20 year average of 53.4%. In 2016 it was 55.5%, a turnout above the 20 year average, but still unimpressive. Although Republicans have had a slight advantage of registered Republicans over registered Democrats, the sum of registration percentages when added to "leaning" percentages have recently moved in favor of Democrats - not surprising with Democrats owning MSM, Hollywood, the Washington swamp, and their willingness for local Democrat leaders to openly allow criminality and then blame Trump for it. Nonetheless, Trump still has going for him the same excitement that carried him in 2016, possibly even more, possibly even to the level that carried Obama in 2008. Remember also that many Republicans voted for Trump in 2016 didn't particularly like him, but they hated Hillary so they voted Republican anyway. That's Biden's plan today, to get Democrats to vote Democrat because they hate Trump, not because they particularly like Biden. The difference this time around is the Republicans, except for those in the swamp's Lincoln Project, may not be staying home like many Democrats did for Hillary.

Trump's advantage in 2016 was his excited followers fought a subrosa offensive in blue states that didn't take them seriously, perhaps never have. Now they do. At the same time the Democrats are trying to achieve a kill shot by going hard after Florida with Bloomberg's money. Trump needs to counter by going after California and its suburban and rural populations. It's not the state it was in 2016. The state is in crisis due to Democrat incompetence, and politics of elitist popularity over common sense governance. It was headed for the ditch before the Coronavirus due to high taxes, blank check social programs, open borders, sanctuary cities, gang crime, drugs, mob arson and looting, handcuffed police, record breaking forest fires caused by neglected forest management to appease the tree hugers, employers fleeing to Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Texas and Tennessee, an exiting middle class population being replaced by impoverished illegal immigrants from or through Mexico, declining (now crushed) tourism, homelessness everywhere, urban sidewalks covered with human feces and politicians wanting to keep the state in misery for political gain. The situation was somewhat fogged over by the roaring pre-Coronavirus Trump economy. Not any more. Trump should tell Californians that the only way it's going to change is by a voter revolt. It wouldn't take a lot of money, only 2 or 3 Trump rallies packed with tens of thousands of MCGA (Make California Great Again) signs, red caps and masks to wake up the California Republicans and scare the crap out of the Democrats that they've not already dumped on their own sidewalks. Remember that California used to be a Republican state and could be again if the fed-up Republicans, legal (anti-illegal) Latinos, farmers and ranchers and millions of non-techie workers can be energized, just what Trump rallies are for.
