In the early 2000s I had property taxes on business increase from 2k to 8k per year over 5 years, plus a $1200 per year storm water runoff fee.....to pay for the social programs in MN. I closed the Minneapolis business in 07.
In 2007 the US Bank Stadium began it's respective bid for construction. The wheeling and dealing was preposterous and the revenue short fall after construction began was predicted. The citizenry paid for politics, and the week after the "financing" was contractualized, Hennepin Co. issued a declaration of needing $900M for infrastructural repairs.

Governments shall "own" nothing.
