"Financially problematic" - you think?

I gave up on the NBA many years ago due to the blatant officiating bias, but I thought it was interesting that even the ideological can eventually realize when their messaging is going to tank everything. It's pretty uncomfortable when the (Nike) shoe no longer fits...

The NBA is the most boring thing on TV. I'd rather watch weeds grow than watch basketball. I'd almost rather watch the evening fake news on CNN than the NBA. Almost. But both give me a good reason to be productive and turn the tv off.

I can appreciate the athleticism and talent, but if I want to watch sports I want to watch that athleticism and talent. That entertainment what I'm paying for. If I want to pay to get indoctrinated, I'll go back to my local university. ;)

It takes about 1 minute for me to be bored with basketball. Run left, jump up. Run right, jump up. Repeat. There is no drama until the last 25 seconds of a close game (a small minority of games), and that takes 30 minutes to finish while the talking heads (and commercials) blather on and on and on.
Turn off the sound and the drama is zero.
Much rather read, garden, or build something.
And then there is the inane, hypocritical politics. Players making millions to jump up and down tell everyone that all whites are racist. $%^& them.

That's why entertainment is a "to each his own" matter. I personally can't stand rap but there are enough who do that rap artists are among the highest paid in the music industry. Each industry and artist caters to their own market. But what they don't understand on the marketing end is that their appeal and entertainment value focuses on their core competency of being an entertainer - not an evangelist. To paraphrase a small green muppet "That is why [they] fail."

            Agreed. "No accounting for taste."
Hollywood actors, musicians (I use that term loosely), and sports "entertainers" should stick to their jobs.
They should also keep their clothes on. The latest moronic idea is for leftist stars to go topless to explain how great "naked" ballots are.(UGH!)
