Austin is where the majority of California immigrants move to in Texas, next is San Antonio. West Texas won't tolerate them. Do you know what Californians and a wet saddle have in common?.......After about 30 seconds they'll both chap your ass...

Did you see where our Governor said he will stop the ability of the cities who defund their police to tax their citizens? Every city in Texas has a Charter with the State and some of the items in those Charters are really interesting.

I have a friend whose husband is an Austin policeman. It's bad, there....really bad. And her high school daughter got an assignment from the teacher to write about "police overreach and brutality." About her father!

I realize police aren't perfect people but to have to write an essay about why your father is a horrible person? NOPE. The daughter came up with actually a pretty good rebuttal and I think mom is going to be paying the teacher a visit.

Hurray for mom. My husband served 20 years in the Army (combat three times). When he retired, my plans were for him to be a teacher. He became one. He formed the college police force and trained youngsters to be police. He had also earlier been a Lieutenant with the Sheriff's Dept. I know once in his 17 years in law enforcement he fired his weapon, at a felon who stole a car, went through two counties and was about to hit a school bus filled with children. He stopped the felon by firing across the hood of his car. No one was hurt.

We are extremely careful in Texas. If your Driver's License expired (like mine in April), we just got a lovely letter from our Governor saying we don't need a DL to drive right now. We have 60 days after sanity returns to get a new license.

For me it underscores the need to completely re-think and re-work policing, i.e. getting a solid plan together for public safety and then defunding the existing system.
