National Association of Basketball Coaches: The SAT and ACT tests are longstanding forces of institutional racism and no longer have a place in intercollegiate athletics or higher education

Yes, the coaches feel their players are too stupid to pass tests to qualify for "higher education".

Clearly the cart is no longer being pulled by the horse, and the horse wants a free ride.

To dismiss this as yet another instance of college athletic coaches playing the role of farmers for future professional athletes would be too easy. To remember that Knute Rockne himself insisted that his players keep their grades up would be dismissible as yet another instance of "white culture" and "whiteness."

    Now I give you this:

    https://nmaahc.si.edu/learn/talking-a...

    https://twitter.com/ByronYork/status/...

The second is a tweet containing the infamous "white culture" image--which, I note, the Smithsonian scrubbed from their "Whiteness" page. Cowards.

All this is an example of critical race theory, according to which:

    Racist ≡ White.

How sad and such a waste of human beings. If "whiteness" is described as " Individualism, hard work, objectivity, the nuclear family, progress, respect for authority, delayed gratification...", then what is "blackness"? Could this be it:

      Individualism becomes tribal collectivism.
Hard work becomes sloth and laziness.
      Objectivity becomes dreamy irrationalism.
Nuclear family becomes totally irresponsible procreation and minimal or no child rearing.
      Progress becomes stagnation or digression.
Respect for authority becomes criminal chaos.
Delayed gratification becomes I want mine now even if I have to harm you to get it.

I don't think this is what black people really want, but this is where it's going.

I wonder what the founders of the United Negro College Fund ("A mind is a terrible thing to waste") would think of the spectacle unfolding today?

I'm sure they are rolling in their graves. Think of how valuable slaves and ex slaves held the ability (privilege) to read and write as compared to so many today willfully embracing ignorance and illiteracy in the name of "being black". They don't even know their own history and don't even care

So let's pull collegiate sports out of college altogether. Separate them entirely. Make them private businesses with a loose affiliation to their alma maters and stop them from looting the actual students. Let them pay their players and finance their own stadiums. And I, in turn, will never watch a game again.

If you want to remove the "student" from "student-athlete," go ahead. But go all the way.

If players can't pass tests they have no business wasting the time of educators and holding back other students' educations.
Let the parents of such "promising" players send them to camps and special coaches as parents do for young promising tennis and gymnastics athletes.
Let the professional teams provide funding for such coaching for those who can't afford to pay. Its the NBA and the families of successful players that benefit from the collegiate basketball "farm system"; the NBA and families should pay for it.
Students who are able to do college work are the ones who are negatively affected by this idiotic system. College should concentrate on factual education, not racist propaganda, or sport.

I don't see where anyone needs an academic degree to play professional sports anyway. This "profession" isn't like being a doctor or engineer. It's a skilled trade like a plumber or auto mechanic - only probably a lot easier to those born with the physical properties required. A person can be academically as dumb as a brick and still be great at tossing a ball through a hoop.

I thought the purpose of going to a college or university was to obtain an education not staff the coaches with players for all the sports that can lead to a professional career, that the sports were an extracurricular activity. We all know that isn't true but it sounds good. Coaches have long lobbied teachers to go easy on THEIR players because they 'represent' the school to the public. Why not create a special athlete curriculum without academic studies, except for rudimentary reading, writing, simple math, and protesting! all that needed these days to succeed in professional sports. Then issue a certificate of attendance without a degree as it's rarely needed anyway.

Teach ignorant savages to kneel before the feudal lords. They can hire accountants and agents for the rest of those unimportant menial tasks.

Interestingly, I read an account of the Knights Templar and many were illiterate because it was considered beneath them since their trade was being a warrior. They had lowly priests and scribes to take care of the books.

I recall seeing a photo of a stained glass window in some cathedral depicting two Templar knights on a single horse. Not sure what the story was.

That's how they got around...everyone was paired up...same principle as the spartans...paired up in queers.

With all due respect, OUC, I don't buy that out of hand. Would you say any buddy system from summer camp to the modern military equates to "paired up in queers"? I think not. I think it runs like any large population sample. That is, homosexuality may be found, but not as a general rule. The Templars were a religious military order, but were not the same as Spartans.

I did read some obscure history on the subject many years ago, it was not a queer everything source but I have no way to confirm it. I don't think anyone can say it definitively.
I fear I lost the source through several laptop failures, loosing everything I had stored. But I think it was from the Global Watch group which investigates history, religion and the new world order.

I am done with team sports on so many levels. Individual sports such as MMA and boxing have my interest. Despite being very physical both are also very cerebral.

Frankly...I'm growing tired of this kind of bulls*&t. How dare anybody raise their kids, of any color, to be vulnerable to this kind of thinking. How dare anybody who knows better promote it with a straight face. It's disgusting...

Colleges want the money that athletic events bring in, but want to drop the fig leaf of calling the athletes that provide the spectacle "students". The general public that watches the games doesn't give a damn what the average SAT score of the team is. They only care about who scores the most points. How much of the money that athletics bring in do colleges use to buy a gas chromatograph for the chem lab, or do they just plow it in to adding more seats in the arenas and recruiting more players?

Perhaps they use the revenues to pay $5 million to a sports coach, $millions to tenured professors who only spout propaganda and haven't "educated" in decades, build "sports" facilities for "sports" that no one ever wanted to see and have no place in any education.
I suspect the gas chromatograph is paid for by research contracts and grants trying to manufacture "evidence" of global warming.
You might conclude that I have very little respect for those who administrate higher education, and you'd be right.
      ;^)
