When Marvel comics appeared about the same time as The Beatles, I was reading those exclusively save for Superman DC's Sgt Rock of Easy Company.
Unforgettable for hilarious was the issue when Sgt. Rock stood on a burning German Tiger tank (that I guess he also took out) with a Thompson in each hand firing up at two diving Stuka dive bombers attacking from opposite directions.
As both planes exploded with fiery wreckage crashing down all about, Sgt Rock yells what he usually did during times like this--"Nothing is easy in Easy Company!"
Marvel's ripping off Rock "Sgt. Fury And His Howling Commandos" was a tad more believable.
