...note the irony. Bill Gates is attaining sainthood within the mainstream media. They talk about him like he's the messiah. F'er doesn't know anything about health. Doesn't matter.

    Hilarious!

Gates is the guy who forced sub-standard software on the world with monopolistic processes. Then he simply stole Apple's software (that they started from what they bought from Xerox), and turned his command line turd into a wrapping paper encased turd. Then using more monopolistic approaches and market inertia, rewrote his crap operating system into an ok operating system with IBM, and we finally get to Windows XP, that works after decades of just absolute crap.

In between they bought all the other tools that were worth a damn (e.g. MS Word) and used their market strength to insert them.

Other than Nazi market policies, and sub standard software, what is Gates an expert in?

I have computers at two different locations. Unfortunately my current location has an older pc that has windowsXP. Can't wait till I get back to my newer PC with windows10.
Soon as I can afford it a laptop with '10 will be the solution.

I had a decent older Windows 7 PC, that died. Replaced it with an 27" iMac, which worked great, also ran Windows in a virtual machine and drove a second 27" 4K monitor.

It finally got too slow, and a I just bought a new Windows 10 PC from a gamer in my neighborhood who upgraded. Super nice machine, i7700K, M.2 SSD, SATA3 SSD, 1TB HD, 2x Nvidia1060 video cards and 6x27" monitors on a huge stand! Fantastic deal at $900. I think the people on NextDoor didn't know what it was.

I prefer the Mac OS or other Unix. Much more flexible. More Zen, like programming C.

I was trained on computers in the late '60s by the military.Worked on IBM systems after that. Later went to work for Convex Computers in Dallas. Unix was their software platform. I never felt comfortable with that. These days everything is so software driven and my phone drives me crazy.

You have a few years on me, although I did work on IBM mainframes as a summer job in college, System 370s and VMS. I don't mind software controls, but I can't stand it if I don't understand what is going on. Younger people have no such inhibition.

Software that works against the end user is one of my least favorite software features. That used to be something that programmers tried to eliminate. (I speak from experience, having written software for customer use for 20 years.) Today it's the opposite. The customer is only relevant when they have taken their business elsewhere. Then the company who chased them away gets bailed out by the corrupt con-gress.
We must stop supporting the enemy. MSFT, Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, et al, none of them deserve our business. We can bankrupt them all if we take our business elsewhere. imo, that is the only peaceful choice left to save America.

                Well said.

I get all the others. Thought Apple was a standard deviation away when it came to protecting data.

BTW, thanks for the DuckDuckGo ref. I use it all the time now. Really want to invest in them, but haven't figured it out preIPO.

The lame stream media adores the serial rapist Bill Clinton. The cocaine dealer Al Sharpton . The traitor Hussein Soetoro. The tranny Mike Obama.
The pedo Tom Hanks. Naturally they would love the eugenic Bill Gates who may be a pedo also. Jeffrey Epstein signed a will two days before his death: report. ... In the will, he named biotech venture capitalist Boris Nikolic as “successor executor,” the person who would take control of the estate if the two named executors are unable or unwilling to.

I thought the rather more ironic comment was this: "Gates pointed out that facts travel slowly across social media compared with misinformation, which poses a challenge to Facebook and Twitter."

Uh, that's because no one on either of those two platforms is anything but a leftist hack because you keep suppressing the accurate information which non-coincidentally comes from non-leftist sources...
