And remember the limited TV would actually get turned off? What a generational laugh for no one to get the last of. There were how many generations of word of mouth? And then books came along. And then radio. Those that grew up with only radio laughed at new fangled TV and the corrupting influence on kids on the living room floor glued to the screen. Those kids came to laugh at mind numbed kids with Nintendos, satellites, joysticks, CGI, 300 channels of shit, and now 24/7 news opinion indoctrination.
I still prefer the physical book where the mind takes all the words and creates all the imagery. The mind can easily say nope, pause, I want to think about that one.

There was a story long ago about a man in the USSR who was able to fly a suitcase full of oranges a thousand mile and make a good profit on them due to the government's pricing system being arbitrary. There has to be a black market in socialist systems in order for people to keep from starving to death. That is the only kind of market that can exist under a dictatorship. Socialists believe that their arbitrary prices make a market. Liberty is necessary for a market.
I wish I could think of a solution.

I have an older regrigerator for which they dont make the contol boards any longer. A really smart dude started a company where he sends you a refurb board that he fixed from the last customer, and when you get it, you send him back your board. He never has to find the nonexistent NEW boards.....

With the limited information and views within his access he would have believed in that Marxist stuff, but there was a clear honesty in his character. He could tell the difference between what should have been and what was and is, between what the sacred books say will happen and what actually happens. That seems to be a stage that our deplorables have reached and not our intellectuals.
