I agree with the idea that if the the public schools arent safe for the kids to return to, WE SHOULD GET OUR PROPERTY TAX MONEY BACK THAT IS USED FOR SCHOOLS.

First off I agree that it is safe for society as a whole to return to "normal".

As a Teacher I am certain that if we returned to the classroom as normal that there would be a rise in those infected with COVID-19. The reason that I have what at first seems to be a contradictory position is that I believe that COVID-19 is greatly overhyped. Yes, people get sick. Yes, slightly more die from this version of the flu than previous versions. So what.

Honestly the damage that has been done to our economy has caused more and will even more deaths than this virus has. We need to stop giving in to the irrational fear being fostered upon us by the Media and the Left.

It should be done right. Simple terms - many humans plus exposure to pathogen = some illness. Now...that's more complicated than "safe". I recently got briefed by the national engineering organization that I'm a committee member on (engineering stuff) about reopening schools. There is a safer way to do it than just doing the same ole thing.

I reached out to the principal of my son's charter high school. No response. The school my daughter left a year ago just put in fixed, no-opening windows. In short, if it's not "safe" you can expect a big mess. School admin people aren't prepared (and may not be capable) for dealing with this properly. They aren't soliciting help. The teachers unions are pretty silent on all this.

Then again...if this completely eliminated public education as we know it that would probably work out better in the long run...

Interesting information, Doug. I have been taking my influenza shots, probably since ...mid 1980s. Also pneumonia, DPT, but no one ever talked to me about Mumps. I had Measles/Rubella. Never had chicken pox either.

Thanks for the info. I probably need to actually GO to a doctor and get some advice instead of just running down to Walmart for a flu shot every year. It’s hard for me to go to a doc, though, when I haven’t been sick in something like ten years...or more.

The influenza that you got at 8-9 was (A)H1N1 1918 Spanish flu. Then 1957 Asian flu (A)H2N2 and the 1968 Hong Kong flu (A)H3N2.

Ty (A) has since evolved to H5, H7, H9, some highly pathogenic. Search on “HPAI” Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza It’s just a matter of time.

WHO is already pandemic staging the new G4 (EA)H1N1 identified in 2020.

At 65 y.o. I began vaccinations for Influenza, pneumonia, DPT, MMR as my awareness of virus evolution was raised.

Can’t help but agree...and the physical weakness is only surpassed by the mental.

I was thinking about this topic just now.....when I was 8-9, I got influenza. VERY sick. Couldn’t pick my head up. But when it was over, nobody rushed around trying to vaccinate me every year after.....it wasn’t until I was in my 30s that vaccines even came up, and that was in response to H1N1.

I don’t know anyone who got H1N1 but I do know someone who still suffers from the debilitating effects of Guillain-Barre. It nearly killed her.

Now, I don’t consider flu vaccines to be in the same ballpark as vaccines for measles/mumps, or polio. Although...I never had the mumps and I was grown before the vaccine for mumps was developed. I guess I should be careful about that.

But....I am no medical expert and this is far afield from the original topic. I think the kids need to go back to real life.

It is a great example of how weak we are as a country.

I can't get over the level of hysteria over the kids, given that the virus simply does not affect them like it does older people! I mean, really older people in super-bad health that would succumb to any opportunistic virus that wafted by. Like so much of this entire debacle, it makes no sense.

I believe that is true for all of us, in all circumstances. I disbelieve that CoViD-19 is in any way exceptional except for being politicized.

I believe that but for the Social Justice Networks, the infotainment outlets TV and on-line, there would be no Plandemic dumb bass hyperbolic hysteria.

I went back to college as an adult retiree and learned to hate to have to take 100 level classes with snot nosed new smoker freshmen as I inevitably picked up their Rhinovirus.
