We don’t use “Sir” in this country as part of a title because that is an English knighthood title rather than an American title. Especially at that time but even today Mr and Mrs are considered formal - and it isn’t that uncommon for a man to respond with something among the lines of “Mr Is my father.”

History is an important gauge to measure the evolution of our civilization and ourselves, in the right direction,.. according to laws of nature and natures creator.
Mankind was once bicameral where the left and right brains did not cooperate, then we lost that illusionary voice in our heads and slowly gained the voice of self and eventually for some of us, (certainly not all) we gained conscious introspection, a conscience and a mind as unicameral humans...it has generally been an uphill battle until now where we find more than 60% of the population falling back into bicameral despair.
Just as Our language was confounded at the fall of Babylon, this fight has been orchestrated not by our creator but by those that think they should be. I call them, parasitical humanoids or The Great Unwashed ruleless class...somehow, those bastards survived the flood!
