Coronavirus Shows Why We Need Separation of Medicine and State! - Ron Paul

"n the midst of stay-at-home orders across the country, the same governors and local officials who locked Americans in their homes suddenly came around with their keys and threw open the doors. Suddenly not only was it OK to go out into the street, it was required to go out into the street!

What happened? A cure? A miraculous vaccine? No. The officials who locked Americans up found a cause they felt required Americans in the streets to protest. Police had killed a black man, George Floyd, in their custody in Minneapolis and suddenly the need to protest trumped the need to “stay home, save lives.”

Suddenly the same health “experts” who told us we must not gather in crowds or there will be death in the millions from coronavirus issued statements supporting gathering in crowds. An open letter on the George Floyd protests signed by more than 1,200 doctors and other health professionals clarified that they “do not condemn these gatherings as risky for Covid-19 transmission.” However, they wrote, “this should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-at-home orders.”

Did the coronavirus develop some kind of superior intelligence enabling it to distinguish between those who were congregating for a “good cause” and those who were congregating for a “bad cause”? Of course not. What has happened from the beginning of this shameful coronavirus episode is the politicization of public health at the hands of authoritarians."

allosaur, your comment gives me an opportunity to pontificate.

This lockdown/quarantine brings up at least three issues:
        1. The role of government. Should there be power to restrict people in this way? China locked up possible victims in their apartments, and welded doors and windows (according to reports). In our countries new laws prevent people from leaving their home without a license under threat of fines.
        2. Legality. A governor of a US State said she would not impose restrictions contrary to existing law and the constitution.
        3. Pragmatism. If there is philosophical and legal sanction, do these measures work? FWIW I think there are instances when lockdown could have been effective, London maybe, but mayor SAdiq Khan cut the metro services thus increasing congestion!

        Meanwhile, look at- lockdownsceptics.org

Me dino finds that chart showing the peak in England and Sweden to be very, very interesting.
Methinks a big fat leasson has been taught about trusting "experts" with socialist leanings.

The media world wide feel they can publish ANY lies they wish and the sheep, especially those under 40, will believe them and riot on cue.
Some young people are proving them right.
Many more are proving them wrong.
Will those who are resisting being led to slaughter by the media be wise enough to resist when they are told they must vote against Trump in November?
Or will they run full speed to serfdom under the corrupt looters.

The government officials and leftists (the same??) have lost the confidence of the people. We are saying that the government plan to lock us up under our beds to "flatten the curve" resulted over 100,000 people in the usa dying. Thats not a very good record overall. The "unproven claim" that the death toll would have been 2 million if the stay at home plan was not followed, cant be taken as a fact.. So given that the current plan resulted in 100,000+ deaths, no wonder people are just saying to hell with the stay at home plans. They didnt work on an absolute level.

So, the word on the street is that its time to live our lives in a personally responsible way and whatever happens happens with the corona virus . Anyway its not the governments business telling me I cant open my business, when THEY keep theirs open and pay their workers.

We absolutely shouldn't have the Government interfering in the practice of medicine. That being said, I think that government should have emergency powers to address things that affect all of society. Based on what I've seen from several states around the country, I think that the governor should have to cite the cause for the emergency and be limited in the actions he/she can mandate. And any extension of those orders MUST come from a vote from a quorum of the Legislature. That being said, a governor should not be allowed to declare an "invasion" by a microbial agent (as was done in my home state) without citing the original aggressor and presenting any evidence.

I would also note that to me commerce falls under the right of Association and thus is immune from these arbitrary pronouncements by various executives declaring certain businesses to be unable to function.
