A Confidant of Ayn Rand Addresses Wuhan Tyrants

During this Wuhan inspired individual rights and supply-side economic disaster, no governor in America has garnered more Mediocrity Worship from progressives and conservatives than Ohio’s Mike DeWine. The Chicago Tribune reported on April 28th, “DeWine’s decisiveness, closing schools before any governor in the country, and postponing the state’s March 17 primary to protect voters, sent his popularity soaring. Seven weeks into the crisis, DeWine is being guided by health experts while avoiding partisan fissures over stay at home orders.”

At the governor’s disposal are media hysteria, public fecklessness, and force. In contrast, individualists depend on reason, trade, and heroic souls like Poetic Justice Warrior Isabel Paterson. In her 1943 book The God of the Machine, Paterson describes the statist’s philosophical contradiction, and its false premise.

You do realize that Isabel Paterson, not Ayn Rand, wrote The God of the Machine. The article does close almost correctly: "If it had been left to (timid) males, nothing much would have happened. It was three women, Paterson, Rose Wilder Lane, and Ayn Rand – who, with scornful side glances at the male business community, decided to rekindle a faith in an American philosophy."

It was not a matter of faith. It is true that during the 1930s and 1940s when individualism seemed dead in a world of competing collectivisms that Rose Lane Wilder, Isabel Paterson, and Ayn Rand kept the flame alive. Of them, Rand was the most consistent philosopher. The God of the Machine is insightful, and, as noted "poetic."

In the 1950s, Paterson and Rand fell out over religion. However, as the story goes--and this speaks the errors in Paterson's personal phllosophy--it was Paterson who inspired Atlas Shrugged. After The Fountainhead many looked forward to Rand's next novel. I have an editorial from Fortune circa 1953 in which the rumor of a "business novel from Ayn Rand" is cited. Anyway, Paterson nudged Rand to get that novel out the door with "You owe it to your readers." Really? What if I quit writing? What if all producers quit... (Or so the story goes.)

ThanQ mshupe for this post. I believe that people are awakening greatly. They see the infringement against themselves by officials who don’t have their best interest in mind.
Individual rights are always first and foremost. The individual is the greatest minority and his/her rights are unalienable .
Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

My pleasure MrQ! Living in Ohio, I see a lot of posts on FB from Ohio friends who have been praising DeWine since late March. This got my attention! If you perceive a contradiction, check your premises. Of course these people are sanctioning their own victimhood, and they don't know it. Its for the common good after all. The Kool Aid has been glowing in Jonestown Ohio for decades. This disease is so much worse than Wuhan.

The female doctor who was with him on his daily briefings, doesn't she sound like she's Benzo'd to the gills? No one is that calm.

Yes, and I think that's her aura of "scientific integrity" the sycophants are addicted to.

Did not consider that. I always imagine Science Barbie in a white labcoat.

We live in a world of shallow thinkers. Style over substance. She's a confident woman with power, thats what matters. Its reinforced with establishment academic cred. and collectivist rhetoric. They love it. It doesn't matter what the consequences are, the intentions are the common good. Kantian ethics.

I actually did a stint in DeWine's Congressional office, and I learned he is the 'ultimate" politician, evreything was about appearances, staging. He seemed to choose "experts" who were incompetent at times. Education is one area where a Masters meant they knew something, when they did not. Now, he has this goofy Dr. Amy at his side who uses "ah" ever other sentence, and never knows the medical answers. Yet, he gave her the power to kill the primary voting in the 12th hour on a baisis of health! That alone assured I will never vote for him for dog catcher. Then he shut down everything, when kids would have been best in school. Now Amy says we must be "like the Chinese, and get used to masks.!!" Another expert with feet of clay, who seems unaware that masks incubate germs, and that we need open exposure to get natural immunity, or we can shelter for months, then step out and get hit with all the germs we should have built up immunity to, inlcuding COVID19. If this thing starts all over in the fall, Ohio economy will die. If it does, it is not an accident, but a planned virus drop, which I think the first was a test, as one CDC grant state, "track the spread pattern", after learning how the viurs is made. That was when they sent over half million to that lab ourside Wuhan. Fauci's organization sent three million therre. He is an "expert" we should never believe. Meanwhile Mike rambels on, with his beloved daily briefings, he always did love spotlight.

Thanks for the testimony. Do you still live in Ohio? Its not surprising, because its the nature of the beast, that everything about him is about staging and appearances. What is done for public consumption is obviously so fake, they think we are unwitting fools. And why shouldn't they? Nearly everyone spews the rhetoric of their favorite mediocrity. It works.

Here we're we aren't seeing a strike as oppose to an out-right revolt. My concern that if there is an out break of Covid-19 in Democrrat run states that these liberal governors will try to close them down again will that blow up in their faces?

It is their nature to use government power, that is their object. Their means is arbitrary edicts. The premise will be the contagion. Of course it blows up in their faces when more and more producers revolt, but we don't here much about Hong Kong these days.

Reading this - a recurring thought pops into my head. "I'm simply not going to comply." Ever get that thought? Sure, the Machine seems omnipotent, omnipresent. But, what I see are people in costumes with guns and not much else. Maybe I'll comply. Maybe not...
