New York Makes It Felony for Law Enforcement to Share Illegal Alien Data With ICE

"A silent change to New York’s controversial “Green Light Law,” formerly known as The Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act, means that law enforcement officials who share illegal immigrants’ driver data with federal immigration enforcement agencies could now face a felony charge.

The Green Light Law went into effect in December 2019 and primarily allowed for illegal individuals to apply for and obtain driver’s licenses from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

As part of the new law, which New York was the 13th state to introduce, individuals aged 16 or older are able to apply for a standard license, including those who have never been issued a Social Security Number, although they must show a combination of documents that prove their name, date of birth, and New York State residency.

The provision regarding law enforcement is contained within an update to New York’s 2020 budget, signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in April, WKBW reported, and makes it a class E felony for officials to share the information regarding illegal immigrants."

SO, they don't want to obey Federal laws but they want billions of dollars to bail their dumb asses out of their own financial mess. Typical left wing hypocrisy.

More dirty politics in New York. If Cuomo gets re-elected as Gov, downstate gets what they deserve. But why do they have to drag upstate into their socialist agenda? We don't want it! Take your illegals and move downstate where you belong Cuomo. You're a disgrace!!!

If I was in New York law enforcement, I would love to be the test case. Not sure it would quite be as dramatic as Hank Rearden and his trial for selling 4K tons of Rearden Metal to Ken Danagger, but I'd gladly pass information to ICE and dare them to prosecute me.

Amen. I'm curious how they try to reconcile this with the actual rule of law in the Constitution - which specifically cedes to the Federal Government control over immigration and naturalization. This isn't one of those borderline things where the State can try nullification claiming protection under the Tenth Amendment. Perhaps even more galling is that New York is one of those States calling for a Federal bailout using the excuse of the COVID-19 "crisis." What a bunch of frauds.

Last time I checked, states and specifically governors don't have the authority to issue such a law. Pretty sure that it wouldn't last past the first court case.

The mayor (Big Fredo as opposed to his relative, talking bobblehead Little Fredo) who murdered nursing home residents with Covid-19 patients is up to more Party of the Jackass stupid Schiff.
Seems to me dino that a big time federal level smiting of Demonrat rogue governors and mayors is in order.

Almost any state would be an improvement ;^)

      Decide what your priorities are.
I'd start with climate, but your priorities are what matter.
As long as you are moving, pick a climate you like better to narrow the choices to examine.

Consider the legal climate and safety of your
      person and property.

If you have a family you should consider the needs of significant others and children.

There are lots of places that are better, but none are perfect.

Just added more supplies... If the NY men and women in blue go for this, how long before the rest of the Thin Blue Line follows? News from Minneapolis says the State Police arrested 3 cnn reporters, the on-air guy being black/hispanic, yet simply requested a white reporter in another area to move. There has to be more to this than reported, but the actual result is more fuel for this debacle. With pressure on as the riots accelerate all over the country, how long before a huge explosion? Say maybe mid-to-late summer? Wrecks convention time, plunges the country into chaos that will keep flaring right up to elections, "news" mediots report the worst they can find to feed the flames of distrust, racisim, division. BTW, my nickname is Cassandra for you mythology freaks...

Good to know you, Casandra or Katrina. The blues in major NE and West Coast cities may indeed. Those in major blue cities may also - even in Texas. Makes me gladder to be in a rural area.

Cassandra, the woman in ancient Greece who made many prophecies.
She was always right, she was never believed.

Yes there is more on these events that have yet to come out. An Australian woman, Justine Damond, was shot dead for no reason by a (new migrant) police officer. My resultant opinion of Minneapolis was reinforced the more I read about the area. The electors put in a very wokist administration, diversity, equality, climate, affirmative, and all that, pandering to migrants and loud mouths, it is blowing up.
I would not be surprised if the disasters may be getting some outside help.
