Nah, it is more likely to be plain incompetence.
At the convention, would Harris automatically become the nominee? Or would it truly become an open convention (or whatever the term is) and the delegates would be free to vote for whomever they want? Or is there some other way it would play itself out?
I'm pretty sure that if (God forbid) my imaginary ticket of Biden/Harris gets elected but something happens to Biden prior to being inaugurated, Harris would be come President-Elect and would be sworn in next January.
But I guess there's one more scenario to be considered. Let's assume that after the convention, Biden/Harris is the ticket. What happens then if Biden goes down for the count before the election? Would Harris become the nominee, and if so, would she be able to choose her running mate?
This whole thing is running circles in my head; I'm paying a helluva lot more attention to what Biden does as far as his running mate is concerned.
Even if Biden wins in November, I don't think he'll be sworn in. I think (fear?) that whoever he names as #2 on the ticket will become POTUS next January should the Dems win in November.
His party, his handlers and most importantly his wife should all be ashamed for putting this man through this.
They just might try to convince Bernie Sanders to come on as the VP, to try to bring those voters back into the fold. This is going to be a real sideshow.
