New Zealand passes bill allowing home entry without a warrant to enforce virus rules

Could this be the NZ "Patriot Act"?

"A bill giving police sweeping powers to potentially enter homes without warrants while enforcing Covid-19 alert level rules has passed.

The Covid-19 Public Health Response Bill was rushed through Parliament in time for alert level 2 but came under intense scrutiny from the Opposition.

It passed 63 votes in favour with 57 against.

The National Party and Act didn't support the bill, saying it was an overreach of powers, distrusted New Zealanders and didn't allow for orders to have proper scrutiny.

But the Government said it was necessary to ensure the continued fight against Covid-19 and created more accountability, not less.

The Human Rights Commission said it was "deeply concerned" about the lack of scrutiny of the bill and its rushed process "is a great failure of our democratic process"."

The left never misses a beat when it comes to finding excuses to gain more power. We have to resist this. Its bad enough that they can order us to stay at home- Where did we give up the right to free assembly?????

That's the problem, term2, we didn't give up the right, it was taken from us. Now if we behave like good little sheeple "they" might let us have some of it (not all) back.

Many countries were critical of Chinese treatment of its' citizens when they tried to control the Wuhan virus by brute force, yet, some western countries and governors in America would like to be not too far off the Chinese standard.

It’s so easy for a democracy to vote itself into tyranny and so difficult to recover the liberties that are lost. It usually takes a hundred years or so and lots of blood....

Another step toward totalitarianism in a so-called democracy, using the pandemic as it was intended by certain persons who want to be in charge -- totally.

Yes, NZ is a democracy and it shows. Brainwash (or bribe with transfer payments) a bare majority of voters and you can do whatever you want with the minority. Two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.

This is great.! Could cost the lefty-totalitarians the next election. I hope Stormtroopers start rummaging homes.

Not surprising that they did this, AFTER, confiscating firearms.

These people now have given up the right of privacy, search and seizure and property rights, this is frightening. This is China and Google taking control, and they better wake up. They had better ask what the powers have in store next, for virus drops, not give up rights. It is time to demand anserability, and that includes world and US agencies which help fund COVID19 and its spread, It is time to stand up to those forces, not turn on their own citizens.
