Study: Low Levels of Vitamin D May Increase Odds of Dying From Coronavirus

"To the best of the researchers’ knowledge, this is the first retrospective study which determines the association of Vitamin D status and COVID-19 mortality outcome. Older and male cases with pre-existing condition and below normal Vitamin D levels were associated with increasing odds of death. When controlling for age, sex, and comorbidity, Vitamin D status is strongly associated with COVID-19 mortality outcome of cases. Randomized controlled trials are warranted to investigate the role of vitamin D supplementation on COVID-19 outcomes and to establish the underlying mechanisms."

Old dino glad me likes milk and cheese unlike a brother who is lactose intolerant. Never broke a bone in my life--so far, knock on wood.
Being 73 (million years old) and a Type 2 diabetic puts me in the Coronavirus vulnerability zone.
I protect myself in public by wearing a red University of Alabama Crimson Tide mask with roaring elephants and helmets and letter As also on it.

That ffa is up to date - I just came across this on joannenova.com.au

    The message is-
if you have dark skin, and do not go out in the sun, or live in a place with little sunshine, then you are at serious risk.
There is an easy way out - take a daily vit D3 supplement.
Sunshine gives more than you need but you may not be getting enough sunshine, and you do not get much vit D from food.
Vit D is needed for a healthy immune system but there seems to be other benefits in resisting and fighting this CCP19.

Well that was nothing new but it is good to get it confirmed by a proper study.
Note, there is only one advantage of white skin, better production of vit D!

It is a known fact, 15 minutes a day in the sun will give an older adult more Vitamin D than they can get from a mouthful of pills. Now, if you live in Texas, that isn't a problem. We have sunshine every day. I know, I duck under the trees a lot to get some shade.

I supplement every winter with D3 but when the chinese flu started I upped my dosage from 5Kmg to 10Kmg.
Vitamin A is supposed to be important for proper immune activity as well...I get enough of that in my diet.

Have to laugh, although it's the dumbest thing I have ever heard, calif and other places keeping people off the beach! 1.5 mins in the sun and the virus is toast...
And they are supposed to be going by Science!?!
