So, Moore's "answer" is for he and all the people who work for Hollywood promoting irrational solutions, to commit suicide and everyone else in the human race to be castrated or exposed to a terminal disease.
Maybe a world war killing a 9 billion and destroying the ability to make electricity would satisfy Moore the Destroyer of Worlds.

    Liberals are so empathetic.

    Hypocritical idiots.

Yes, I was sickened by the promotion of depopulation to solve the problem...if only they knew of what ahead of Humanity....see my third comment below...my final thoughts about these creatures.

What strikes me as sad is the total refusal to use the word "nuclear" as a real solution. Even the Sierra club (reluctantly) recognized nuclear power as the cleanest, safest form of energy available. What the general public does not know, thanks to media fear-mongering, is the total number of deaths involving nuclear power systems is ONE. In the entire history of the use of nuclear power in this country, only one technician was killed, and it was human error, as he was crushed by a fuel rod container.

While I'm thankful that Moore has finally realized the fallacy of the "Green New Deal," his view is still very static. On the nuclear front, if he addressed it, I'm sure he would point out the limited uranium resources, totally ignoring thorium as an alternative, and there's enough of that to last us for a thousand years.

There is a future for solar power, in space. Using materials mined from the Moon and asteroids, we'll be able to build huge solar arrays to provide power to our off world ventures, and maybe the dreamed of solar power beamed from orbit will power things on Earth.

Moore may be "woke," but he is still very drowsy. Who knows? If he keeps going this direction, he may yet become fully awake.

      +1 for comments on nuclear.
Moore hasn't awakened to anything. He continues to spout population "control" (i.e., mass murder ) rubbish and ignores real solutions like thorium. Any decent unbiased investigative reporter would have uncovered that fact and reported it. Instead Moore blames the the free market - the only system that has allowed humanity to create civilization.
Moore is a stinking, lying, biased, manipulative pile of excrement.

We have a Community Solar Project that was built by our Rural Electrification Association:
    • 550 Solar Units were available and sold.
    • Each Unit was sold / purchased for $200.
    • The Solar Project went Live on January 2, 2019.
    • 41,000 kWh of power was produced during the 2019 full calendar year.
    • Participants in the Solar Plan received $5.80 credit per unit at the end of the year.
    • Washington State paid an incentive of $0.16 per kWh produced to Participants in the Plan.
    • The WA State incentive will be offered for eight years (2019 – 2026).

    Given some assumptions:
    • The Solar Project will generate 41,000 kWh per year, on average.
    • Consumer rates on power will average $0.0783 / kWh.
    • The WA State incentive will hold for the full eight years at $0.16 per kWh.

    We do some math:
    • 41,000 kWh / 550 solar units  74 kWh / unit (noted in the article).
    • $5.80 / unit / 74 kWh  $0.0783 per kWh. This is the consumer rate for Benton REA power.
    • 74 kWh (power / unit) * $0.16 (WA incentive per kWh)  $11.84 / unit.
    • $5.80 (consumer rate) + $11.84 (WA incentive)  $17.64 / unit per year (based on 2019).
    • Given eight years of WA incentive: $17.64 * 8  $141.12.
    • Further, WA incentive for 8 years * $11.84 / unit  $94.72.
    • $200 (unit base cost) - $141 (credit + incentive over eight years)  $59.
    • $59 / $5.80 / year (consumer rate)  10 years (additional years post WA incentive years).
    • 8 years (with WA incentive) + 10 years (consumer rate)  18 years to “pay for” Solar Unit investment.

    Costs not in the calculations:
o Time-value of money: Consumer investment in the Solar Project could be earning ~4% / year in a low-risk portfolio of dividend paying stocks.
o Potential revenue lost in terms of not leasing the Solar Project land for commercial development.
    • Cost for maintenance (likely minimal: washing the panels annually, checking the mounting bolts, etc).
    • Cost to recycle solar panels: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/12/2...

One major observation: Nearly half the “investment payback” for Solar Participants is tied to the Washington State incentive.

This leads to a fundamental question: Where does the Washington State incentive come from? Does the Washington State Legislature designate some pot of money for “Solar / Green Incentives?” In any event, that money has to come from somewhere; my understanding, from economics – this money comes from one or more of the following:
    • Direct taxation on the members of the community (city, county, state, nation).
    • Debt financed: taxation on future production + interest on the debt.
    • Inflation: The US Federal Reserve creates money (debt) “out of nothing” – bonds and treasury notes (debt) are swapped [financial alchemy] – The US Government issues grants in the form of Green Incentives to the States (such as Washington) – Washington State has a pot of “Green” money to pay to participants that choose to engage in Green Projects.
o Every dollar (of debt), that is created via inflation, parasitizes its value from all of the existing dollars in circulation. We see the result of inflation in absolute price increases for goods, services and labor.

Long Story Short – the individual is always going to pick up the tab for any incentive. John Doe might think that he is making a good investment in Solar and that it is “paying off” – however, either he will eventually pick up the tab (potentially with debt-induced interest), or his neighbor will pick up the tab; or worse – the next generation picks up the tab (kicking the can down the road). There is no escape from reality – economics – mathematics. In other words, “When the State takes from Peter to pay Paul, the State can always count on the support of Paul.” Peter is the invisible man – the person who eventually picks up the tab. Economist Frederic Bastiat wrote “Everyone wants to live at the expense of the State. They forget that the State lives at the expense of everyone.”

There is a great deal of press generated regarding Green Energy (solar and wind):
    • Solar cannot really afford to “stand on its own” without being propped up with incentives as per my calculations.
    • Both solar and wind are clearly intermittent in providing power and must be supplemented by continuous power sources (hydro, nuclear, oil-gas-coal).
o When you have over 250,000 wind turbines, around the world, that directly change the climate via significant reduction in surface convective air currents that alter the advection through the vertical atmospheric mixing layers, and nobody from the Sierra Club, Earth First, the IPCC or the Friends of Global Progress is even bothering to wave a flag of concern, then you can be assured that Climate Change alarmism is less a matter of science and more a matter of politics.

    We are doomed! DOOMED!
Why? We're all gonna die! DIE!
There's no way any life form can live forever!
As for our planet? If a planet cracking rock from space doesn't come along, a million something years from now, the sun will consume all its hydrogen and swell, turning Earth into toast.
Hey, at least all the plastic polluting the evaporating oceans will burn up too.
But will we see it? Nooooo-oooo!
Why? Because we're all gonna die! DIE!
Oh, how I wanna cry! Why? We're all gonna DIE!
    DIE! DIE! DIE!
Do you know what happens when you die? You are rendered dead!
My late mother told me when I was small, after you are born, you begin to die.
Why? There is no why. We are all born to die.
Oh, what a world. Oh, what a sad, sad, sad, sad, sad world.
Two years ago me dino paid for my burial. Have you?
I picked a plot beneath a shady tree. Should I die in July, mourners also doomed to die will thank me for the shade. Should there be a lightning storm? Maybe not so much. But it may speed up the inevitable.

This morning my plumber told me to watch it.
I told him that normally Michael Moore is a far out eco nut.
That remains, but in this movie he has the figures right on this renewable green wind solar racket.
Moore has not retracted his beliefs so he would be stuck in despair, there is nowhere for him to go, he cannot see that his premise - that the planet is going downhill - is wrong.

I suppose the msm have to go to banning and ignoring.
(extremist groups, service standards, committed to responsible blah blah)

I'll watch this tonight. Thanks. Crazy as it may sound, I've always enjoyed Moore's work. He really goes outside of logic at times, making stupid statements. But, I take his work for what it is and usually find some enjoyment from it.

Also, I have been involved, firsthand in engineering work in renewables. It left me very jaded to the whole industry. There are good people and good engineers (not many good engineers) in it. But, it's mainly run by defunct architects and ignorant hippies. And, make no mistake, your government/energy complex will continue to dupe the dummies in it with insane regulations. Even today...I toy with the idea of working in solar/thermal after I retire.

Some things have potential but end up being bastardized by the government/establishment/elite to render them useless. The Libertarian Party. Renewable energy. Facebook. The evening news. Etc...

      Thanks for that input.
I think, in the future we should consider how nature, the sun and the universe makes all the components we use in our physical creations and try and duplicate that process on a small scale therefore eliminating the toxic waste in the process.

I do think that "big oil" is a huge influence in the creation of roadblocks within government. And, our governments out here in Cali repeatedly put the established utility companies determine limits on things like private solar PV, etc. The results are worthy of a Monty Python skit, really.

Just one little example. If you catch rain water in Folsom, California the local water municipality will charge you for it. What tha...

          Yes it's crazy.

Here is the thing about oil. It's Not a fossil fuel, it is renewable, made by bacteria deep within the earth. Noticed lately that old played out oil wells are filling back up.
No one wants to talk about that and the scientist that discovered that have been censured...the info is very hard to find and if you do find it, it's listed as a theory or a conspiracy.

Someday that info will have to be discussed but I do agree, our oil is controlled by the worst of creatures and is not entirely a free market because of that.

Even if a new tech is revealed, we still need oil as a lubrication but in the big picture we should save it for use during and after the next catastrophe cycle hits.

    Profound questions:

How many people can live on this earth at the same time?
How long ought a species survive?
Can an intelligent species control the number of its members? How?
How can an individual discern between truth and propaganda?
How can a film maker call Al Gore a capitalist?
Why does it matter if the human population is reduced by 90%?

Well, one thing's for sure...The earth is Not overpopulated with Conscious, Value creating and producing, Human Beings...it is however, overpopulated with nonconscious parasitical humanoids...regardless of their numbers...

I could attempt to answer your last question in theory but it would take a book to do it...Oh,..and I am not finished with it at this time...maybe by the end of the year.

"Right from the get-go, I have to admit that Planet of the Humans, a documentary about the environmental movement produced by Michael Moore, is unfair, very unfair. And unkind, too, very unkind, to Al Gore."

Quickly going through the movie...it's hilarious! A tree hugger builds a log cabin and heats with TREES!...is that why he hugs trees?
How about a million dollars worth of 8% efficient solar panels to power 10 homes for a year...Oh and it only occupied about 2 acres of land...

Mikie pulled out the stops on this one...LMAO

Abet...Michael and his fellow creatures still have a hurdle to jump...the earth, the planet, is not in crises...Humanity is in crises and the fault strictly lies in the court of the creatures that have ruled over us for their own perverted pleasure.
