Allow me to +1 that for being bold enough to make what might be an unpopular proposal. You are advocating that the CDCP should have police powers to proactively test and quarantine people.

That may be fully consistent with Objectivist legal theory and its application to the constituion of a limited government republic.

In 1972, Edwin Newman interviewed Ayn Rand for his show “Speaking Freely” on NBC-TV. Among other statements, Ayn Rand said: “But on the matter of protecting people from physical danger, if certain conditions of employment, let us say, are unsafe and it can be proved that there is a physical risk – I don’t say that we have to wait until somebody dies – then the employer who is creating this risk can be sued, and can be severely punished financially. In other words, there can be a law protecting a man from physical injury by another man. In this case, the employer who puts men into conditions of danger – not accidentally, but intentionally or carelessly – can be penalized because he is infringing the right of his workers not to be injured physically.” (That and other transcripts are collected in the anthology Objectively Speaking: Ayn Rand Interviewed, edited by Marlene Podritske and Peter Schwartz; Lexington Books, 2009.)

Very interesting Post. He sounds like a doctor I encountered when my 7 month old son wound up in the hospital. I threw a baby bottle the length of the quarantine ward. That got some attention.

It's obvious this Mike person hasn't had a lot of contact with federal folks. I hope I never have to deal with any of them again. I got a belly full in my years in Washington. I categorized them as not being real people but rather plastic people.

A foreigner usually becomes an American when he or she becomes a citizen. I have numerous friends in this category and they are more Patriotic than some natural borns I know. What is the purpose of categorizing people. And I didn't change subjects, the news media is saying the Coronavirus is killing an abnormal number of black people. It seems to me some people try to find a reason to do this sort of thing,.

Maybe a bit of both, I would suspect. Just a gut response.

In the position he is in, he would have to know what other evil scientists are working on.

Universal Flu Vaccine!?...why not just allow everyone to have a healthy immune system?
In my mind, it doesn't get any more universal than that.

so What if he served the previous horseshit administrations. After all those years look at the job he did .We are now destroying our economy and the worlds because our CDC is hapless and has done nothing to protect us.

Hell no. I have known him for 29 years. He is very good at entrenching his power. His bad science almost cost my daughter her life. In late 1990 Fauci and an infectious disease FDA panel recommended that Baxter- travenol not screen and remove Hepatitis C infected blood donors from the product Gamma Guard the idea was that recievers would get anti-bodies for HEP C as an added benefit from those infected people. . Right after that 1990 decision, my daughter was diagnosed with strep throat. Her doctor prescribed med for that and one of the side effects unfortunately effected her.
I carried her two days later into The emergency room with Avery high heart rate. The side effect was acute AIHA Auto Immune Hemalitic Anemia. As opposed to chronicAIHA.
Her white blood cells were eating her red blood cells. Her heart and respiratory system were on overdrive trying to deliver oxygen to her body.
The immediate treatment was to infuse Gamma Guard a product packed with hemoglobin concocted from literally thousands of blood donors. A few Weeks later I read a story in the WSJ that 7 people had contracted Hep C from GammaGuard. Sure enough I talked to her specialist Dr about it. First he said she didn’t have that prod. , I respectfully disagreed and the nurse verified that I was correct. Two vials of her blood were to be sent to Atlanta CDC infectious disease administration. At the time gene seQuencing or genetic markers was how to get diagnosed. The process would be 4-6 mos.. After 9 mos had expired and no results and a fairly apathetic specialists office about the situation. I had my first conversation with Fauci. See , I had been talking to the NAtional institute of Health liver specialist on and off for 5 mos learning everything he knew about the consequences of having Hepatitis C.
I learned how this tainted product was approved and I learned of Fauci’s involvement for the first time. Fauci took my call and I explained that we have been waiting for the results from my daughters blood sample. Fauci asked me to hold he set the phone down and l could hear his footsteps as he went to retrieve something. Quickly he returned and asked my daughters birthday. I told him . He asked her Initials and he said was she at Children’s Hospital in St Paul. Yup.
Fauci said “we lost the name card so we have just been storing this sample” . He then said they would “put a fast track on it”. “ Results should be to your doctor in a few weeks” of course they weren’t and we had our second conversation a month later. This time he apologized and put me on hold .He said just instructed his technician to start ASAP on it. Since he was somewhat contrite I started to grill him on what he knew about Hep C. In short order i knew he had little knowledge of its long term consequences and the fact at the time it was incurable and ultimately resulted in kidney failure. Shortly after that conversation within the week.We got the diagnosis that yes my 9 year old had Hepatitis C. Phil Paffley from Robins Kaplan Miller and Cersei called me and wanted my daughter to be “ the poster girl” for the lawsuit they were bringing against Baxter.
The lawyers wanted another sample sent to CDC fir verification. That presented me with a few additional conversations with Fauci. When I confronted Him at that time about the FDA panels decision to include HEP C infected blood into GammaGuard his best excuse was “it was the best science at the time”. Haha Now if you did your homework you would find the 4 HIV patents Fauci owns will be needed for any vaccine related to COVID19 type a,b,c,d,e,. Maybe his estimate of up to 2,000,000 US fatalities makes a bit more sense. Since then a worldwide administered vaccine for all on the planet is being pushed. Or his close friendship with Gates and the accused Ethiopian genocidal WHO Director General. Plus plus plus....

I don't see what the problem is here. A prognosticator in his field got it right this time. I don't need to be in his field of expertise to pipe up every January 1st and declare there will be an outbreak of infectious disease the coming year and get it right now and then. I don't have to be a geologist to predict there will be an earthquake in California the coming year or a meteorologist to predict a hurricane will brush Florida or Louisiana.

So here on January 10, 2017 he predicted a serious "surprise" outbreak and on January 26, 2020 he was telling the American people not to worry about anything. It took over two years to get the first guess right and two weeks to get the second guess wrong. We can clearly see that in spite of his expertise, he is not a god.

You conflated several topics into one short statement. I don't know what ethnicity and color have to do with this. When does a foreigner become an American? And what changes for that person at that moment - aside from being able to vote?

This was posted to The Hill https://thehill.com/homenews/administ...
    and also to Politico

It is within the proper constitutional limits of power as defined within objective law for the government to ensure me that you are not a danger to my safety.

We had smallpox vaccinations for generations. My scar was my proof that I could be admitted to a state university. The polio vaccinations of the 1950s and 1960s are another example. For my daughter's generation it became the DPT shot to get into school. I have long maintained on forums such as this one that coming to work sick should be an actionable civil offense because it is a threat to the right to life of other people. You are perfectly free to live in the woods by yourself. Seriously, See my post here on Basement Nukes (https://www.galtsgulchonline.com/post.... In a world where national governments cannot protect you, closed communities are a likely development. We would just liock the city gates against people who are not shown to have been immunized.

This is not Orwell. I can show you examples from America in the 19th century. I just submitted an article for publication about Dr. John Leonard Riddlell and the yellow fever epidemic in New Orleans 1853. It so happened that long-time residents of New Orleans who were in good general health survived a mild case of yellow fever and hence were immune to the new outbreak. Foreigners, aliens, travelers, itinerants, and others like them were suspect.

You are wrong. Dr. Anthony Fauci is not the chief bureaucrat of the CDC.

The Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is Robert R. Redfield, MD. He also holds the post of Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. -- https://www.cdc.gov/about/leadership....

(If you want to voice an opinion, at least get the basic facts straight.)

Do you have any examples of him "saying a lot things" that are wrong?

Do you mean, would I want him for my general practitioner? Maybe not. I like my doctor. But he was neither pompous nor boasting. He was, if anything, cool and matter-of-fact.

Do you know the perception tests where some people hear "Yanni" while other people hear "Laurel" or "The Dress" (Is it blue and black or is it gold and purple? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_dress )

To be generous, perhaps you just perceive him differently than I do.

Dr, Anthony Fauci has spent his career in this field. He can be wrong about economics, religion, or pairing wines and meats, but this is his area of proven expertise. He cited specific examples that fit the general case: HIV-AIDS, Ebola, and Zika.

From 37:15, he gave his general prescription:
    Global surveillance
    Transparency in communication
    Infrastructure capacity
    and
    Platform screening.

At 39:48, he said that a new outbreak of something previously unpredicted is inevitable because that is the nature of the phenomenon.

He served five administrations before this one:
    Reagan
    Bush-41
    Clinton
    Bush-43
    Obama

His work is neither mystical prescience nor conspiratorial foreknowledge any more than would be the appearance of a comet that was predicted by an astronomer.

On the utility of platform screening, I attended this presentation on diagnostic screening at the University of Texas in 2013:
The patient feels bad and goes to a doctor for treatment. Tests are run. A cause is hypothesized and treatments begin while the patient’s course is monitored. The shortcomings with the standard approach begin with the fact that we have to wait until we feel bad to get a diagnosis. Also, tests are heterogeneous: any symptom suggests many tests.

[Dr. Thomas] Kodadek then offered a better approach. His theory is that antigens must exist before symptoms reach perceptible levels: you are sick before you have a fever. With pre-symptomatic screening we could monitor for any active disease in its early stage, before the symptoms appear. His recommended course is to routinely monitor the levels of dozens of disease-specific antibodies as part of any periodic medical check-up.

To achieve that, we need to develop a large, broad, and deep array of synthetic artificial molecules that act as antigen surrogates. This is possible through combinatorial chemistry.

This is more of their control crap. I don't even know why we still count Americans by ethnicity or color. Who cares? Americans are Americans. Let's all grow up.

Fauci says a lot of things.

As the Chief Bureaucrat of the CDC, he has to say something. This is not the first occasion he was "projecting" events that never took place.

He probably thinks that warning about outbreak is safer than saying the opposite. If it doesn't happen, nobody cares. But if he mitigates the future state and an outbreak occurs, that'll be more difficult to explain.

Saw a report today that suggests he wants people to start carrying immunity paperwork for this virus. More and more of this. I'm already carrying enough paperwork. And, frankly, the thought pisses me off. I hope what I'm hearing about him is false.

    Absolute power...
