"The revenge of Ayn Rand"

I think this quote from the article shows why a lot of people have issues with what Rand wrote and why they tend towards supporting a welfare state:

"What about the rest of us - the non-gifted, the people who didn't become captains of industry?"

Most people aren't gifted, so they feel as if they are taking second place by agreeing to a free market, as they can't "beat" the gifted--in other words, freedom for them isn't a fair deal.

The error they are making is essentially assuming materialism, which is part of what Francisco is driving at in the money speech. Value is measured in quality of life, which is as much mental as physical.

    Good to know book sales are up. Ticket sales should be up in Oct. if they play it right.
