COVID-19: China's global power-play
What was the leading news item before COVID-19? Hong Kong. Now we find out that not only did China install one of the WHO's primary directors, but now there may be a power-play by China not only to quell the uprisings in Hong Kong (using the virus as a cover) but here we have a WHO official blatantly ignoring Taiwan's sovereignty.
The whole timing of this is suspicious - if not obvious. China knows about the virus back in November, but chooses to allow it to spread among its populace clear through the Chinese New Year when Chinese people working in other nations come back to China, then return to work - carrying the virus with them. It is only following Chinese New Year that China finally admits that the virus is real, even though they undertook significant efforts to destroy or conceal evidence - including doctors - of the virus' origins in Wuhan just outside China's primary biowarfare facility. Recently they even went as far as to try to blame the US for releasing the virus.
Given the Chinese' duplicity, I would be all in favor of every nation closing its borders to trade with China effective immediately and until China admits the truth in the development of COVID-19 (which isn't natural). And then we keep the screws to them until their economy collapses and regime change is effected.

The US provided something like 59 billion dollars to the WHO last year; unless we can also investigate them when we're investigating and uncovering the truth about China, there's nothing to prevent the WHO from doing this again.
Unless, of course, we tell them that our payments are now conditional; no free access to data for an investigation of this pandemic along side our investigation of China, no payments. Period. End of story.

So they do this to create FUD and slow it's adoption.
When I heard the summary of the published review, versus a placebo... 2 things stood out.
Both groups had an EQUAL response. Nobody was helped or hurt by having either treatment.
This is strange. More strange everyone recovered in 3-6 days. Everyone with no real difference...
Think about that for a minute. This thing takes 14 + days to clear out of most people
But everyone in BOTH groups were cleared in 3-6 days.
Could the placebo have been HCQ (the doctor would not know!)... And therefore believe his results??? Probably...
But that reduced time to ridding the body of the virus just clicked with me.
All other tests showed SOME CLEAR Efficacy in the VAST MAJORITY of cases.
The best hypothesis for this action is to test the international system's response.

You are right, they care nothing about killing legion of their own people, and less about others. The only restraint they have is allowing an obvious role be discovered and reacted to by the rest of the world as a whole.

China - unlike the US - plays the long game. The only question is whether or not their own regime and ideology are in that same long term their own undoing and whether or not in this case they have only bit off more than they can chew...
To get a major pandemic, it takes a lot of typhoid mary types to spread it everywhere, and this doesnt come from some open air market, It went too fast.
Yes, that would be a just course of action to implement against China.
Fact is, there will always be those who want to benefit from disaster and will go along with China. As the WHO director you mentioned, and countries who want to take advantage of the crisis.
