Anthony Hopkins Says "Actors Are Pretty Stupid" Talking Politics

Appears to old dino that the smart ones are those who refrain from "talking politics" like a favorite of mine who played Hannibal the Cannibal" and many other roles.
In the article comedian Kevin Hart said he prefers to be the "bight spot" in this culture rather than be divisive with politics because "you're alienating some of your audience."
Well, no duh! Take that Robert De Niro!
Note to self, watch more Nicole Kidman and Mark Wahlberg flicks. Who is Mark Wahlberg, dino? That face I've seen from time to time.

My late mother used to say kind of the same thing.
She seemed to wonder what made people think that actors and actresses were such experts on other things just because of their profession.

Mr. Hopkins is a proud Welshman and wonderful actor. It is nice to have a few like him in his trade recognize and understand his audience. His background suggests he is a rugged individualist.

Yeah, that butchered punish humankind for farting carbon remake of classic The Day The Earth Stood Still was a real digital "oo" and "ah" yawner.
The Keanu Reeves space alien Greta Thunberg character even stole the name of his robot, Klaatu.
That digital robot looked kinda crappy too. I prefer the version with a man inside.

Definitely agree, Dino that the 1951 original totally outclasses the crappy PC dripping remake.

Crap, me dino goofed. Just now as I started to type, I remembered that the robot's name is Gort.
But in the original, the word "Klaatu" is part of the three word message delivered by the leading lady to tell Gort not to destroy the world.
What "Mr. Carpenter" had to tell the world was that the patrolling robot police force did not care about Earth's "petty squabbles" but to "extend your violence" would "reduce your world to a burnt out cinder."
See? Me aged dino mind can remember some stuff.
I can even remember words better than Bruce Campbell~~https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgvXt...

No problem, Dino. I knew the robot's name was Gort. Klaatu is the alien's name (aka Mr. Carpenter). Easy to confuse as the commonly quoted phrase "Klaatu barata nikto" sounds like Mrs. Benson (Patricia Neal) is addressing the robot as Klaatu. I don't know what the phrase really means, but I think it runs along lines of "Go rescue Klaatu and don't kill everybody along the way." Here's a mystery I noticed in the movie: How did Gort walk to where they were holding Klaatu, do the rescue, and get back to the ship without anybody noticing?

Edit add: Of course I'm referencing the 1951 version.

"Hopkins’ dismissal of talking politics echoes what actor Mark Wahlberg stated in 2017 following President Trump’s election in which he said celebrities should stay out of politics."

Good to know there are a few in Hollywood who still know what their profession is. Even better that they have been the ones I liked/like.

Astute observation by Hart that those spewing political nonsense are alienating their audience. I posted the same thing recently that the nitwits have no idea what they are doing. Most of them are over their peak so they think it doesn't matter after making their millions. All the more irresponsible since they don't care about their fans only their own interest.

"...only their own interest." The fools don't even realize what that is. If the totalitarian communist dream state they keep promoting and voting for comes true, they will experience the true meaning of "spread the wealth".

Years ago me dino heard Rush say that actors and other assorted career movie makers want to be invited to all the right cocktail parties. Being an outspoken lib is a strategy for advancing oneself in Hollywood.
Still, that has not stopped a handful of "individuals" from obtaining success. Actually having talent always helps.
BTW, I learned here in The Gulch that Liam Neeson who is always shooting guns in movies wants to take mine away. Me dino quit watching that hypocrite's movies after that.

        Really?

I thought he was a reasonable guy. I added him to my "No-see" list.

Unfortunately, my no-see-um list is getting really long. The ones that make me the maddest are the ones I enjoyed the most watching in movies.

          Cough, cough Meryl Streep, goodbye.

I banned Streep from my see-list a long time ago.

A respected actress painting her face orange and spewing expletives fish wife style at the president is not someone I am interested in seeing.

She is only one of the many dozens I refuse to see any more.

They do their things and I do mine. If they don't care about the poisonous effect of these lawless activities on their audience, I don't either.

I destroyed their DVDs as well that I collected over time.

            Buy-buy sycophants!
