I find all the hand gestures candidates use very annoying and distracting. Can't Pelosi and the others talk without all the hand waving?

But 'like' in a conversation is more tolerable to me than the use of the 'f' word. I leave the room!

If one of my grandchildren inject 'like' in a conversation, other than for the correct usage, I stop them by laughing. They avoid the use in my presence, so I know they are aware of what they are doing.

I don't use filler words and I have done more than my share of public speaking. Obama made me crazy with his pauses. He looked like a cockatoo bouncing his head around. He was a terrible public speaker. None of my friends use 'like'. I think it is a generational thing.

I saw a recording of a meeting I ran for IEEE, and I was shocked by the filler words. I should do Toastmasters. I don't imagine myself saying "like" as much as I do.

Ok and So, are the only two I caught besides, obviously, the beginning of his talk.

I disagree that it could be a good thing.

It annoys the hell out of me.

It is a flag to indicate the IQ level of the person. Whenever I hear it, I shut down the conversation and avoid the person if I can.

It has been around for a long time, it is not new, and it is spreading.

Cortex is using it all the time.
