Jacksonian Trump not isolationist or moralizing interventionist

"There is no doubt that the operation against Soleimani carried risks, but it didn’t transform Trump into a conventional interventionist. In fact, taking out Soleimani was wholly consistent with the president’s approach to the world, which can’t be plotted on a simple hawk/dove or neo-con/isolationist axis. As a Jacksonian, Trump is none of the above, combining a willingness to whack our enemies with a distaste for ambitious foreign interventions and nation-building enterprises.

The Jacksonian label is the famous construction of foreign-policy analyst Walter Russell Mead, who traces the tradition back to 19th-century President Andrew Jackson and the cultural influence of the American backwoods. Jacksonians are content to let the world sort itself out, except if they perceive a threat, in which case they react with great ferocity."

Just the lack of any meaningful reprisal and a weak one at that.., didn't even save face, tells us he did the right thing at the right time.
He not only got his message across, but the response was one none of us could have predicted. The Iranian people, refusing to walk on America's or Irael's flag and, calling out those that did and calling out their own government for lies and corruption...a sight that brought misty eyes to an American patriot.
There is no doubt in this American patriot's mind...Trump knew exactly what he was doing and knew exactly the hearts, minds and Souls of the Iranian people.

I am not particularly enthusiastic about Andrew Jackson; from what I have read about him, he was somewhat racist. ("The Trail of Tears"). But I am glad Trump killed Soleimani . I was very pleasantly surprised by the news report(s) of the Iranians pro-American behavior (re the flags), and also their apparent pro-Israeli behavior.

Nice opinion article stating a certain view of Trump very well, which will be entirely missed by his detractors. Trump won't telegraph a punch nor divulge the strategy that led up to it and it frustrates the hell out of those who want to skewer him.

I have come across many factual, logical pieces and many more that we shared here in the Gulch, interpreting Trump's moves and the reason for his MAGA policies.

None of them received traction in the MSM as if they never existed. They are simply ignored.

With a spectacle as such, there is no reason to even try. This happens in a totalitarian dictatorship, the dream state of the cabal.

I want to comment on your "certain view of Trump" notion.

Trump is an instinctual leader. He has his radar to sense things, even if the evidence is difficult to come by which is not surprising in a DS system where every covert operation is carefully disguised

I trust his instincts and his effort to stop the downward spiral, the path Bush and Hussein put the country on.

Think of it what a superhuman effort it takes to stop it, let alone turn it around.

Boy, I respect him for it!!!!

Why the left can't get that?

    1) They have no brains to come to that conclusion; they have the disease called TDS that effectively protects their neurons from functioning;

    2) Those who get it (the ones on the top) realize the danger of it and the consequences, should they acknowledge it. That is the last thing the left and the Cabal would do.

"Trump’s red line to Iran didn’t have to do with our democratic values or the imperative to keep shipping lanes open for the sake of world order. It reflected the most basic imperative of a nation protecting its own: Don’t harm Americans."

"Don't harm Americans" is a thing of the past. Decades of brainwashing reached the point that America is no longer diving in to save her citizens whenever they get into trouble in the world. Hussein took care of that. If anything, Americans were let to rot if a rouge regime captured them.

No wonder the left hates Trump with all its remaining consciousness.

There are some people in the world that need to just be gotten rid of before they get rid of more people. This Iranian dude engineered the deaths of many people and therefore lost his right to his own life. Good riddance. I would have killed him myself if I had the chance, and I suspect I would have had to stand in line to get that chance.

The label is good. Jackson got in a fight as president, and got shot. He still beat the snot out of the guy. That is tough.
I doubt Donny-boy has that mettle, but he's not in the NFL.

One can argue many non-interventional positions, but when you are repeatedly attacked "turning the other check" is a fools allegory. Interesting they don't screw with Putin or China...and for now, maybe not the US.

You can come up with a post-hoc rationalization for anything.
This one is better than the earlier one I heard about how a conspiracy was backing President Trump into a corner, so he made strategic decisions to go along with conventional foreign policy with US policing the world, even though he really didn't want to. The theory went he was a chessmaster thinking ten steps ahead, carrying out the same policies as President Obama as part of a larger plan to move away from those policies.
The post-hoc paredidolia in this article is better than the chestmaster-against-the-deep-state-conspiracy one from two years ago.
