With all my heart, I leave this place..........

When Ifirst enter this website, I thought I would meet people who shared the views and ideology of Atlas Shrugged, who sought a way to change the world, to save it from the looters. But I discovered a crack, a flaw in the thoughts of many who commented news or topics of interest. Instead of giving hope or any help on how to make a change, even if minimal, they left a catastrophic message. They said that the only thing one can do is to retire, to leave, to pay no taxes and even to kill the politicians. However, the message that the book leaves is that all this evil is not because of an old conspiracy or politicians or the laws that these release, but to rely on yourself, trusting and direct all your strength to oneself. That sacrifice for others gives nothing positive, one must trust in themselves and not to depend the help or strength or intelligence of others.

Unfortunately, I am disappointed. What should be a place to fix the world, is a place to say how bad the world is.

I know most will say it's a lie, that I know nothing about life, but as the book has taught me, I WILL ONLY ACT THROUGH MY OWN MORAL EVEN IF THE WORLS IS AGAINST ME.

Goodbye, and I wish you the best of luck you may have in their world. I will dedicate myself in trying to be a John Galt........

:( Sorry to see you go. ? At what point in the chronology of the book do you think we are at? There is not unanimity of opinion here. Certainly most of us wish to hasten the time where we can rebuild and flourish. Some feel need to play Paul Revere... we have a sleeping populace. Killing is not objective.
Who knows what the future holds, or how fast things could change.
    Safe journey,
    O.A.

    Mellis,
I hope you don't go. The Wednesday after the election was a bit odd - I went to sleep in America and woke up in France (Actually, it was closer to Anne Rand's distopian future America).
What can I do? What I always do - (the same thing most folks on this site do) - I looked around me and figured out what I needed to do to make myself and my family as successful as possible.
We live in a new world now. If we are truly makers, we have to make - we can't help it, it's who we are.

Will America recover? Who knows? I'm not smart enough or wise enough to even speculate. For me, I shall continue to struggle against the drain of the moochers and resist the reach of the looters. Not done just yet....Hang in there Mellis - no one knows what tomorrow may bring.

Wow. Sorry to see you go so soon. You have to stay in it for the long haul, don't expect things to change overnight. The communists or "progressives" have certainly held this view and looks where they are at today: no wonder this nation is going down. And it's taken them nearly 100 years.
Regarding the killing of politicians, NO. Instead, FREEZE their PERSONAL WEALTH, strip them of their citizenship and send them off to North Korea, Russia, or Venezuela where they can live in the Utopia they preach. Their former possessions can be "donated" towards paying off the National Debt, FOR THE COLLECTIVE OF COURSE. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with that. Best of luck to you and come back anytime.

To change the world it takes small steps, we did not get to this point overnight. There is no quick fix to repair damage.
Do not give opinion to those that have a goal to discourage you. those that are looking for a fight will always find one, the decision is yours if you decide to engage.
Giving up does not resolve the problem, hard work and dedication towards self sets an example to others that care to join.

Goodbye. If you wish to live in a dream world, go for it. It's your A double S after all. You want to act like the John Galt character, but you think he was out to save the world from it's self. You don't get it. Don't let the door hit you on the way out to pay your taxes.

    Mellis,
I don't know how old you are, but I wonder if you've ever tasted the freedom that we have in your country. the loss of something precious is felt accutely by most in this site. we have been patient with votes, many feel we have to fight fire with fire now to get that freedom back. a roaring economy, strong families, police and govt out of our homes, the many carried on the backs of few, a strong Constitution ignored by politicians and judges. there is joy and celebration of life in here. there's also lots of humor. there are also posts about heroes-if you do not see hope in those things, then I'm not sure what your definition is.

Atlas Shrugged is indeed about self-reliance, but it also demonstrates the dangers posed by socialism and corrupt politicians, whose laws can turn makers into takers, and destroy our national psyche.
