Lost a Great Man to Murder

Just got word late last night that a guy I grew up with was murdered. Apparently, a murder suspect escaped from the police into Jack's apartment and killed him, them himself. This guy was such a great person that I named my son after him. I am numb today. The world lost a truly fantastic man... I knew Jack since we met in 5th grade and always admired him. One of my fondest memories is telling him that I named my son after him. He acted shocked. He was so humble. So respectable.

Jack is a very special name to me. Of course, all our great friends are special. Blessings to you. You won't get over it, but you will get through it. I lost my son and his wife at the same time. I survived. My Jack wasn't here thank God! He'd already gone. Too many times in combat!

The more I think about it, the angrier I get. So, I'll wade through this and, as with all things, heal over time. This guy was the most upstanding guy I ever knew. Never drank. No drugs. Honest to his core. It seemed as though he lived his life with the idea that anything worth doing is worth doing to the best of your ability. 30 years after we graduated high school I got to tell him in person that I named my son after him. He was humble, in disbelief. That's how we was.

All of you would have loved this guy...

Me dino was walking around numb in a state of near disbelief shortly after a brother of mine was killed by an accident on October 13 if you can believe such a date.
So I can relate how you feel about losing someone close to you.
    You have my sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have never had anything like that happen to anyone close to me, so I can't imagine. I hope a tiny part of him lives on in your son.
