I would suspect he would not have thought that quite such a good thing, but I do not know.
I do know that once I explained myself to him (again) he felt very sheepish and apologized to me multiple times per day for the next three days until I flew back home. Each apology was simply another uncomfortable moment.
Fascinating… What do you suppose he would have said if asked how you would be received ordering a black market ham sandwich in his nation of origin? There is a nativist tendency in all of us, regardless of nation, an apprehension that some foreign customs and ideologies are detrimental to the established local norms, or political ideology. It is not necessarily xenophobia despite what the race baiters shout. I find one wife a handful. Two would surely be the death of me! Regards, O.A.
You are so right too... parents, where are they now. Oh, at the drugstore buying ritalin or addarall or some other mind numbing substance so they don't have to deal with energy...
I agree to the spoiled. but I also believe strongly that our children were hugely indoctrinated in a belief system that the govts job is to provide for them. and that if they provide for themselves, they have a duty to give their hard earned resources to others. their property is only theirs if it's "good" for everyone else. if we are ever to turn this country around, public education has to go.
I'd submit to heading out to The Hot Dog Shoppe...a bit of a drive though. MMmmm, 2 dogs with everything, 2 with chili and cheese. Medium fry with chili sauce and a sprite. All for about $7.
You're quite welcome. Yes, all the information is shocking. It's too much for people to absorb. I could go onto telling more, but will refrain. I am about to post a new reference for all to bookmark as anyone's major source for information on Islam. This is not my site, but someone close to me: my better half!
XR, I have read "Capitalism the unknown idea," and I just mean, personally, don't understand "their" logic. I know that I hear people around me say some of the most idiotic things that to me are common sense, but I really believe that our generation has been spoiled, haven't had to fight for freedom, have NO Idea what they are giving up. If things aren't earned, they aren't appreciated, so here we are.......
I stayed up late last night reading your newest post on islam. There are many articles, so I got through 2 of them and couldn't sleep. I am so glad that you have informed us of this because I think it is definitely important especially for people here to understand the severity of this and inform people around us. I do not want this for my child. 7 or 72 virgins, it's a crock of crap and their belief is to destroy anyone who doesn't agree. I think the plot is simple. I noticed 5 miles away from me they put a mosque and a sign on the road that was arrogant, like only way and the name, I remember being repulsed at the sign. It stayed up for a few weeks and then disappeared. Especially after 9/11, what happened to America ??? I think their minds are so open, their brains fell out......
By the way, Thank You for Continuing to Serve Your Country...
That's great. And you use what you need, as opposed to large slaughter houses. And the added benefit is that the beef tastes like the air you're breathing, as in all the field grasses and wild flowers, etc.
On a side note, 5 years ago I was skiing out at The Canyons in Park City, with 3 of my girl friends. We were followed from a grocery store parking lot to the condo where we were staying, by two young lds "Elders". They tried their very best to get us to listen, but when the cork came out of the wine bottle, they accepted defeat. It was a bit freaky, seeing that they followed us, and I was wishing I had had something besides a bag of apples to defend myself with!
WordPerfect?! Daammnnn. Here's my view on polygamy: I'd rather deal with one woman being pissed off at me than two or more. Notice with the muslim it's always "submit".
I read somewhere that there was actually a translation issue and the original koran actually said seventy two grape vines i don"t know the source of that however
A couple of the essays published there give some great points that you can then study from. I would also recommend watching the history channels "The Men who built America" which can be purchased on iTunes. I recommend watching this only after you read the book. They do make some of the great men out to be the wrong doers in some cases and the book will help to keep your point of view in the right place when watching the show.
Its the time when America's freedom and social structure is really taking off, and its also the time when we started to pass laws that infringed on the rights of people to work and run a business, or whatever else they wanted to do. Many things that should still be legal were done to great advantage for the businessmen but today would be illegal based on anti-trust law. Well likely be illegal.
Anyway a good read and a good watch if your interested.
You made me think of this event as I read through this post. It only mildly ties in but is a bit funny.
As I have said before on here I am LDS (mormon) and I have traveled quite a bit for work. Back when I was doing consulting work for WordPefect (yes, that was a long time ago) I went on site to a client in Vancouver BC. As was often the case (Being a Mormon from Utah) once they felt a little comfortable the subject of Polygamy came up.
I had developed a habit of going along with it and acting like (with some sarcasm) I had more than one wife and was in the market to find another. Peoples reactions were always kinda funny, and then as the discussion expanded they could tell I was joking around with them and not serious at all. I would then tell them Mormons do not do polygamy and have not for a couple of generations.
Well in this instance there was a Muslim in the group and he must have gone into deep thought and missed the last part of the conversation where i explained, "one wife, do not want more" to them.
Later at lunch he pulled me a aside and asked if I had any advice on how to get US women to participate in Polygamy because he really wanted more than one wife. He worded it "How do you get multiple women to submit to you?"
Can you say uncomfortable moment. That was the last time I ever made a joke of Polygamy when it came up.
The point is this was a guy in the US, a US citizen who was wanting to bring his Muslim ways here. It was not just about having more than one wife, which was what he acted like it was about, his wording had confirmed to me that it was about domination and power.
I have never been able to come to terms with the Muslim faith since that encounter. I read the Koran and it just did not click. I mean I can look at most religions and get where it came from and what it was trying to achieve but Muslim's I cant understand, its a totally different perspective.
