    And the American media is silent as the useful idiots march in US streets lauding socialism as the answer to evil capitalism. The idea of planned famine is obnoxious regardless of its purpose of intent. To starve a people to the degree that their child looks appetizing is purely evil, on the scale of Nazi Germany. Shameful and heartless on a variety of levels.

    I'll likely seek out Anne Applebaum's books.Books such as these, because they are now history, deeply disturb me and I do tend to shy away.

      Thanks for the great comment. No, histories of the sort written by Applebaum are not heartening, except that now a brilliant historian has set up to bring the most devastating critique of socialism up to date and is succeeding to break through the liberal iron curtain to reach readers. The Lord only knows how she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for "Gulag."

    A historian of genius has arisen on the right. Anne Applebaum's book, "Gulag," won the Pulitzer Prize, and her new book, "Red Famine," takes advantage of archives opened in Russia and Ukraine and Eastern Europe to tell the story of the Soviet socialist holocaust of 1931-33 as it never has been told.

    It is not that I disagree with the article, but, as to the book, I doubt that I could stand to read it. Nothing against the author, but if she wants to say Socialism is horrible, I don't need any convincing. As to the other Americans who still are pro-socialist, I doubt that they would listen to the truth, even if it walked up to them and hit them in the face.

    Let's be careful about appearing sanctimonious when what we are doing with sanctions against Iran, Venezuela, etc., amounts to the same thing of trying to starve them into submission. If you truly respect reality and truth, stop slanting narratives. Our freedom-touting America is sliding into the same scenario of ruling by force from both right and left. Totalitarianism doesn't care which side it uses. Compromise with either will destroy us, even though their approach has to be slicker in an educated country than in an agrarian society.

    Didn't Nazis attack the Soviet Union?
    Do not think about the Berlin Wall.
    Do not think about people shot at escaping to capitalism.
    Propaganda not good group think.
    Think what Bolshevik Bernie says about Sweden.
    Socialism good. Capitalism bad. This good group think.
    So is turning in all firearms. Be loved for that.
