Rand Paul Blocks Vote on House Measure Condemning Trump’s Syria Withdrawal

Excerpt:
Paul argued Schumer was attempting to circumvent the U.S. Constitution by bringing the measure to a vote.

“He should come to the floor and say that we are ready to declare war. We are ready to authorize force, and we are going to stick our troops in the middle of this messy, messy, five-sided civil war where we would be ostensibly opposed to the Turkish government that has made an incursion,” he said.

Integrity. Syria has never been a ally to the US. They were soviet laptog. We had no business going there in the first place and we certainly shouldn't be standing between parties in a regional conflict going back hundred of years.

Good for Rand. He's damn right.

Here's a thought for everybody. War sucks. It should be avoided. I always get a kick out of all these mushy-butt lefties and hawk righties who couldn't punch their way out of a wet sack, and who's kids are enjoying the good life at Yale and USC who are so eager for military action. Then, the useful idiots all line up and wave Chinese-made American flags and smile at all the kids coming back with their limbs missing. It'd be nice if people wake up and put an end to this stupidity of America being the world's peace keeper.

In watching him closely I've been pleasantly surprised at how stealthy anti-war involvement Trump seems. The mental-midgets who were demonstrating against Bush's war efforts here in town at a central intersection would always get horn beeps and thumbs-up from me. Then, when Obama (who was our first president to have America at war for all 8 years of a 2-term tenure) was in office they disappeared. Now they're back with this? They should be ashamed of themselves... They want us to insert ourselves? They should send themselves over and parachute in...

Thanks, Rand. Our warriors have bleed enough for other countries.
What our armed forces should be protecting forms a straight line until it begins to follow a river called the Rio Grande.

The other thing that should be pointed out is that the Media is making this out as if there was a major force contingent in the area. This isn't true. These were military advisors and only about a hundred of them. They weren't peacekeepers nor was the mission anything of the sort. This was and is a nothingburger of a story. If Congress wants to do its job and declare war, they can then criticize when those troops get pulled out. Unless they do that, they're just a bunch of posturing idiots pandering for political points.

Trying to decide where America fits in the solution to a complex problem of those vying for the right to use violence against their people to bring peace is like trying to decide which mafioso to promote to help to bring peace to the neighborhood.
Decent people should not help any criminal types no matter what they claim. Americans like to claim they are bringing peace to the world by bringing war where ever they go. If peace means that only one sanctioned state can use violence it is then only the peace of knowing who will use violence and knowing how to avoid it.

yeah !!! Finally the end to useless and unwinnable wars. For war to be justified, we need to be defending our country. If its NOT justified, it should be at least to steal booty from the other country. We are, and have been for a long time, waging war with no booty and no justification

Some people are concerned with our allies in the region, like the Kurds and others. I've come to the conclusion that we have only one ally in the region. Everyone else, we can pay like paying mercenaries. In that area, loyalty shifts according to the benefactor willing to pay.

I don't always agree with Paul's platform but he is correct on this one.

Schumer should relax. There has to be a stop to his unhinged agenda to create/maintain war in Congress nonstop.

Tell that to Nancy as well.

The "trojka" (Schumer, Pelosi. Schiff) lost a "comrade" in the unrelenting war against the president. Soon it will be reduced to two, then one...

The United States did what it intended to do in Syria, that was the mission, most likely opposed by those who now want us to stay, not for any humanitarian interest but to oppose the President! Just like the voted after 911 then when it dragged out voted against the commitment. It's about going against Bush or Trump or whomever th Republican is in the White house.

Democrats are worthless human beings at this point. They just want to attack the sitting president who was elected lawfully in 2016. That isnt what they were elected to do and are being paid to do.
