Aristotle - Aquinas - Ayn. And Eriugena?

John Scotus is the first philosopher of the Middle Ages, the first truly Christian philosopher since the death of Augustine in 430, the first European philosopher since the execution of Boethius in 524, and the first man in 300 years who was able to think. He also had a vicious sense of humor.

    Thanks, glad you found it valuable. The editor of CFI is a Brit and said he was not taught this in school.

    Interesting and informative read. I'll likely read over it again on my PC or tablet. Reading, and writing, on the phone is lacking.

    Like Aquinas, Eriugena was able to coalesce reality with his religiosity. If we put him into the context of the time, which we must, this was remarkable achievement, integrating Aristotle's reason.
