Wishing John Galt would show up at my door...

My brother introduced me to Ayn Rand and her writings. He loaned me his Ipod for a very long road trip I had to make. 12 hours of driving went by in a flash while listening to "Atlas Shrugged". The "reader" couldn't read fast enough for me! As soon as I got home, I bought the book and devoured it. I literally cried. Ms. Rand actually got it! What I'd known all my life and couldn't articulate to others. It was instantly both heaven and hell for me. Knowing that I wasn't alone but being powerless to change to world around me.

Hello, my name is Kimberly, and "Atlas Shrugged" is the greatest fiction novel I've ever read.

Hello Kimberly. When I first read AS, I had to put the book down a few times and gasp at how accurately it describes the world today -60 years on!
May I observe that you are not completely powerless - re what you can do, do it. You have made a start..

Yes, isn't it quite the moment when you read or hear something from someone that you have always known/believed but not been able to articulate?

    Hay Kimberly,

I have to agree with you. When I first read Atlas it was like things I had felt but could not explain, I now had words for. I have since read several books around objectivism. While I am a religious person and Ayn rand was an Atheist this is about the only item that I do not agree with her philosophy on. Welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy the journey of understand Atlas Shrugged has set you on. I know I have so far. I also use the book to teach my kids when they reach 16 about the relationship of action and reaction, cause and consequence. It is an excellent tool for this.

You wish that John Galt would show up at your door.

*I* wish that *Ragnar Danneskjöld* would send a recruiting officer to my door.
