Who said, "They are also blind who will not see?" Most liberals seem to believe, all evidence to the contrary, that if they want it to be true, then it will be true. They are either delusional, uneducated or improperly educated or the "useful idiots" of Lenin who are controlled by those who know better.

Never heard of "piling 'em", but had fun with meadow muffins. And you're absolutely right, those horse flies are the worst - even worse than the mosquitos.

I don't, personally. Though some inherit wealth, I appreciate the culture of America that (used) to support making something of one's self from nothing. There is a reason they call it the "American Dream" and not the "European Dream".

I believe that income inequality is a reality of life and that those who are fixated on someone else's wealth should be spending that energy improving their own life. Instead of picketing with the 99%-ers, why not be studying for a degree in Finance? Instead of kneeling in the streets of St. Louis, why not be learning a trade?

Plenty of things one can do other than complain about their lot in life.

This well written article basically boils down to the idea a man on a fixed income cannot be equal in an inflationary economy with those who produce. Along the lines of "teach a man to fish", I think this is the Democratic party way of taking the lazy man out of the economic cycle. I once lived on a dairy farm in Minnesota. It was plagued with huge horse flies. About the only place to get away from them was the smoke house. Once I was complaining about them to my Uncle Aner. He said, "old Betsy will pile 'em. Just be patient." Around 8:00 AM old Betsy put a pile on the ground and I realized what Uncle Aner meant. I think this is what the Democrats do with welfare. They get the whiners and looters out of the economic cycle and pat themselves on the back for their humanity (read dependence slavery). This kind of person doesn't want to learn how to fish, but expects Government to deliver the fish to his door, gift wrapped. Failing this, they will play the race card every hand.

The only people who will be shocked by this are the liberals, who will ignore it as conservative slander.

Excellent start off article... we must always remember that Conservatives believe everyone should be equal at the starting gate; Liberals believe everyone should be equal at the ending flag.

Inequality drives individual achievement, by giving people a goal to strive for. But what happens when a society forbids achievement?

"The income gap between rich and poor tends to be wider in blue states than in red states."
    ---
While the above statement is likely true, it should be noted that it may simply be due to the fact that there is less wealth in red states in general. If you've got universal poverty across all states, but most wealthy people live in blue states, then naturally blue states will display a greater gap between the rich and poor than red states. In other words, all states have the same floor, but red states have a lower ceiling, which does obviously lessen financial inequality, but only by reducing the total amount of wealth that the state is capable of generating.

    Also, there's this statement:
    ---
"When politicians get fixated on closing income gaps rather than creating an overall climate conducive to prosperity, middle- and lower-income groups suffer most and income inequality rises."
    ---
Personally, that sounds too generalized to me. I think the exact tactics used matter more than the goal. Without a careful examination of the tactics used in each state, it's difficult to draw any sweeping conclusions about which policies which are having the effects described in the article.
