That's what you get with people who have nothing but contempt for anyone who doesn't agree politically.

If I were President, I'd simply set a rule which says that reporters are there out of courtesy - not out of right - and that their participation was dependent on their good faith. One can ask hard questions without being a jackass (though its much harder if you are a Democrat). And they should be reminded that unless specifically asked by the spokesperson, reporters are limited to a single question when called on and that they may NOT get called on in any given presser.

Didn't something like that happen? He took Acosta's creds away - CNN took it to court and the court said "you can't do that..."

Yes, but the court ruling was crap. Any reporter who wants to be in that briefing room has to sign a statement saying that they can have their credentials revoked if they abuse their privileges. Quite frankly, it's an executive branch decision and the courts have no say in the matter.

The president and his people, past and present, are at fault for allowing such conduct. No news agency or reporter has a right to be at the White House, accompany the president on Airforce One or even have time given to them by the President. That being true, excluding an agency because of the conduct of it's correspondents is the timeout needed to rein in the rude and petulent children should the President demand respect. Including and Ignoring them is not enough.

First off....excellent decision to do away with formal "press conferences". Then use a "drive by" opportunity on the way to the helicopter.
It seems that all questions by the press are just sloppy wet with contempt.

Being fake news media is what it is, there should be a Don Rickles type in the wings waiting to assist with some questions. For example, April Ryan asks a snotty question, the president would say "That can best be answered by ...." The he would stand back a step.

Something like that would probably get me watching the news again, for sure.

AS far as I am concerned the President should have the right to tell them to get stuffed and move on.

And as for removing a reporters press credentials. I know that that court ruled that the President couldn't do that but there is nothing saying that the President has to speak with that reporter. I would love it if the President just refused to even speak with someone that he didn't want to speak to.

Politeness has been Caesered in the Et Tu Brute sense by TV and the internet.

Reporters in particular are especially rude, and not just to President Trump.

The President acknowledged one old girl and said three times ('One question"). She totally ignored him.

The biggest problem I have with the entire reporting concept is that they are not reporting. They are lecturing, opinionizing, getting the liberal perspective in, antagonizing, and arguing. All of which indicates disrespect. I understand that they might not respect the person (though I can list some instances - Bill Clinton comes to mind - where disrespect was warranted but never shown) but they should respect the office. It is short-sighted to disrespect the office... sooner or later the tables will turn and they will be force-fed what they have engendered. If it weren't so bad for our country, I'd be thrilled and could hardly wait for that day to come.

They want to BE the news, not report ON the news.

For me, I am not interested in the "reporter's" opinions, and certainly not their arguing. I am interested in facts - a concept that appears to have gone long by the wayside. For these reasons, I see very little national news, but the few times I do watch it , I haven't noticed any improvement.

I figure if they want to debate the President, they should run for office and see if they get the nomination -- apparently a whole lot of Democrats are trying that approach.

Their job is to report on what the President says, not what they say. If they want to report on another opinion, then they should find an expert to interview. We don't care what the reporters think, for the most part, they really don't know much.

To work for Fake News is to please those who run Fake News.
For knowing they~or at least their voices~ are on video, me dino thinks at least part of the reason for being rude to the president is grandstanding for their supervisors.

There is a difference between "not approving" of an action and advocating for some sort of control. Perhaps I am misunderstanding but I don't see any request for controlling the reporter's words.

Can't put words in 25n's mouth but it looks like to me she might be asking for an ancient concept called "self control" which would be a welcome and refreshing change.

This is true. And it's why CNN is bleeding money. OK with me - MORE than OK - I would LOVE to see CNN bleed out completely, but it's unnecessary. Further, I do wish one or two of them would not do that, so I would have something to watch too. (*editing to add: so I can find out some things about what's going on in government too. At this point, not sure I'd believe any of it, though.)

As I said before although I would prefer more civility, that does not mean I want anything done about it. And for sure, every chance I have to point out their incivility, I will do so.

Not liking something is not necessarily advocating for control of it. I don’t like watching two men kissing, but I would never advocate for controlling it.
