If I were President, I'd simply set a rule which says that reporters are there out of courtesy - not out of right - and that their participation was dependent on their good faith. One can ask hard questions without being a jackass (though its much harder if you are a Democrat). And they should be reminded that unless specifically asked by the spokesperson, reporters are limited to a single question when called on and that they may NOT get called on in any given presser.
It seems that all questions by the press are just sloppy wet with contempt.
Something like that would probably get me watching the news again, for sure.
And as for removing a reporters press credentials. I know that that court ruled that the President couldn't do that but there is nothing saying that the President has to speak with that reporter. I would love it if the President just refused to even speak with someone that he didn't want to speak to.
Reporters in particular are especially rude, and not just to President Trump.
They want to BE the news, not report ON the news.
For me, I am not interested in the "reporter's" opinions, and certainly not their arguing. I am interested in facts - a concept that appears to have gone long by the wayside. For these reasons, I see very little national news, but the few times I do watch it , I haven't noticed any improvement.
Their job is to report on what the President says, not what they say. If they want to report on another opinion, then they should find an expert to interview. We don't care what the reporters think, for the most part, they really don't know much.
For knowing they~or at least their voices~ are on video, me dino thinks at least part of the reason for being rude to the president is grandstanding for their supervisors.
Can't put words in 25n's mouth but it looks like to me she might be asking for an ancient concept called "self control" which would be a welcome and refreshing change.
As I said before although I would prefer more civility, that does not mean I want anything done about it. And for sure, every chance I have to point out their incivility, I will do so.
