There are many opinions about immigration policy among Objectivists and among Libertarians. For some Objectivists its about the morally defensible role of government in protecting its population. For Libertarians its about the non-aggression principle.

To claim that Lady Liberty was a gift from the people of France to the American people is a stretch. It was the idea of one individual, one French copper company donated the material, and French gamblers raised most of the money. Objectively speaking, there is no such thing as a monolithic people of France or American people..

      True to the letter.

Things of the past normally fade into the fog of memory and subject to distortion over several generations.

The French never corrected the "gift of the French people", in fact they used it many times over to remind Americans what good chaps they were, in the name of "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite".

Never mind that the slogan was the product of a murderous revolution which was everything but.
