Man! Okay..you make good points with the "force" end of it... I just thought they were cute and reminded me of little starter gulch houses..... so sue me! (I wasn't advertising them, I don't work for their sales department. I thought they were a neat idea.....)
I have heard of these before and I think they would be great for someone just starting out.
You could put your money into savings instead of paying rent or taking out a huge 30 year mortgage. With the money you saved, you could get a bigger place later and end up never paying interest.
Of course, the government will probably use zoning laws to keep you from building little houses, except far out in the country. Hurts the construction industry.
Who says you have to start out with more than you need?
When I was growing up the family was living in around 11 sq ft of house. Space was a non stop problem for the 5 of us. The result was that when I could start making choices for myself I always go with more square feet than it look like I need. My Victorian in Milwaukee is around 3000 sq ft. I had rooms that were just empty, I liked it that way. Also, the full bathroom on the second floor was bigger than some of the micro houses out there. Heck, the full bathroom was bigger than the bedroom I shared when I was a kid. The heated floor also meant it was warmer..
Not me.... I'm conscious of how much cleaning is involved. All of my friends moved onto bigger houses (some are now bankrupt), we stayed put....don't regret it either. Small is good. :)
Don't joke about that. If things do become SO bad that we are forced to bail on America, we may need to have a barracks as an intermediate before building homes on Atlantis.
In not saying these FORCED necessities are a conspiracy,,,

At some point it will be one cold winter too many and I'm out of here. This would be an interesting way to leave.
