Spying on other satellites probably is one of the few things our government does that is within its constitutional limits. There is a legitimate national defense concern there.

But you have to wonder what else hasn't been reported and how far they are going. The article describes taking photographs to ascertain threats, but what else are they intercepting from what kinds of satellites that perhaps could not be located to the source otherwise? The NSA used to be described, deliberately dishonestly through omission, of doing what we would want it to do and what it should do, but look what eventually leaked out, some of which was previously unimaginable. We can't trust them.

That's pretty bad, when you can't even trust your satellites. Can a satellite take the fifth? Where would you try a satellite in a court, Guantanamo, the US, New York???

Actually factually not true. The launch was postponed for weather. This is a press release, not news. I got burned also, but was set straight by a contact on the Space Coast.

The satellite launch has been postponed every day since Tuesday. Tuesday the launch was scrubbed for technical reasons. Every night since we have had lightning near the launch site in the 6:30-7:15 PM launch window. This is our rainy season.

So I wonder if they are tracking the communication satellites? Could this be part of a bigger plan to disrupt communications? I am sure there are plenty of conspiracy theorists that have looked at that.

Much better than spying on citizens!

You believe these satellites are not going up there to keep track of us? Keep your shades closed and stay off your cells. I'm sure they're monitoring the gulch as we type.

Well, I agree "they" are spying on citizens as well, but I doubt these are for that, unless they are only for that. Totally different sensors and design.
Hey, how does John know that I'm a geek?
Of course, I'd expect a USAF guy to have a more well-informed perspective than a long- time Navy guy.
