Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War on You, By Greg Gutfeld Review, 5-1-14
Humor-Political 255 pgs. ISBN 978-0-8041-3853-6

Greg Gutfeld is the author of several other writings as well as the New York Times best seller “The Joy of Hate”. He is also host of Red Eye and co-host of The Five on Fox cable. Self described as becoming a “conservative and, ultimately, a libertarian” his perspectives and style are refreshing, sardonic, sarcastic and irreverent. He takes no prisoners and recognizes no sacred cows. His take on who is “cool”, who is truly cool, and how our views are shaped by these perceptions are articulated in an expose with an unusual candor and style.

This book should be rated PG-13 for its language and cheeky commentary.

I can not say I agree with every opinion, but he has a flair and wit that makes this an enjoyable read. It is worth a look, if just for the fun and laughs, though I believe the readers of this site will find much to appreciate.

Who is ultimately cool? It is not the usual gaggle of power brokers, self promoters and spotlight seekers. It is you; the everyday unsung heroes going about productive lives making the world go around are deserving of that title.

Respectfully,
O.A.

I'm a big fan of Gutfeld. He may view himself as libertarian in public but he frequently makes comments that are in lock-step with some of Ayn Rand's ideas. I suspect he's student of Objectivism and a huge proponent of reason. I've not read the book, but will soon, love his sarasm and analogies.

      Hello mshupe,
Thank you for your input. I believe you will definitely enjoy the read then. His style, sarcastic wit, and sense of humor is not appreciated by all. To each his own I say.

I did not read this book, but "The Joy of Hate" is far from insightful or even entertaining. Read my review (not under Esceptico) on Amazon.

      Hello Esceptico,
I went to Amazon and I am not sure how to find your review among the multitude if you did not credit it to Esceptico. However your negative rating would plainly be in the minority (567- 5 star, 123- 4 star, 24- 3 star, 12- 2 star, 27- 1 star). Having said that: I do not believe many here will find anything particularly astounding, in Not Cool, but I did find it an easy read and somewhat humorous occasionally.
      Respectfully,
      O.A.

I drove up to Barnes&Noble to buy this book
    last month when Greg was here in knoxville;
the crowd was as lively as Greg himself, when
he and his entourage arrived with their big black
bus! Greg started out by saying that he would
NOT be signing any pictures of Jasper, Dana
Perino's dog. he is clever and tries to keep things
positive in his freewheeling libertarian manner!

yup! he is short, yet kinda like a leaping gnome
reminiscent of Ian Anderson's Thick As A Brick
album -- mentally. I had arrived an hour early and
had a tiny camo stool in my hand, and he remarked,
"Oh, you brought me a chair!" when I wrapped an
arm around him and said, "We appreciate you," he
replied, "I appreciate you, too." good guy. -- j
