I read this article out of Popular Mechanics the other day and thought to myself, this is half the reason our society has so many problems: junk agenda biased research that feeds of of man's fear.

we should start flooding the system with "peer reviewed" econ research that shows a correlation between Keynesian economics and pancreatic cancer and autism spectrum disorders.

Just saying, that would be hilarious..

Yes! The real scientific consensus doesn't at all back up the concerns about radiation, GMOs, or vaccines.

Almost all of these things involve some instance of starting with a desired answer, data mining, and confusing correlation with causation.

"People who produce junk science often come from outside the scientific mainstream, and they bend the rules of research in an attempt to legitimize their personal beliefs, says Mark Hoofnagle, a surgery resident at the University of Maryland who runs the science-monitoring blog Denialism.com. "What if your ideology is simply not supported by the evidence?" he says. "You can change your mind or you can hijack the system." "
