I've been absent for a while

For those of you who missed me (more than one or two I hope) there is a simple reason. I finally got a new job. I was out of work for about 6 months and finally landed a good job. The trouble is I have to commute to NYC every day. That's about 2.5 hors each way.
I' trying to get back in the rhythm of posting, but the only time I'm going to have for a while is the week end. I'll try to make my posts interesting and timely, but there is no guarantee of that. some of you probably think they never were. Be that as I may, my posts should start appearing again this week end.
I'm happy to be back. I missed the chatter and stimulating conversation.

Michael

Congratulations. We all do what we can here, there, everywhere. And if the job is good, even better. Take care and don't burn out on the road.

Goodness, when do you sleep? My Dad always said when I left home, it would be only once, no returns - responsibility training. So, when I went to work for OSU years ago, I lived over an hour away, which was much longer in winter and worse as you neared campus, where a couple blocks could take 45 minutes. I used to carry a packed suitcase in winter. It was dark when I set out and dark when I got home. I was so glad when I passed to probation period and could move closer - never to return home to live.
Good luck to you and stay healthy! Being responsible can be a tough road.

Wow - 2 1/2 hrs each way? That's going to get old and fast.

It's good to have a job, even under such circumstances. Good luck.

2.5 hours each way? I don't envy you. I used to have a job which was 1 hour away by car and thought that was a pain in the nether regions. I hope for you that it is a VERY good job.

    2.5 hour each way-
If driving audio books are good, they also help to reduce the tension.
By train, take a newspaper, e-book, or magazine. If you have to stand, bad luck, some people manage to catch up on sleep on trains, take care not to miss your stop.
By bus, often bad for concentration but try a book or e-book and headphones to shut out the noise.

Michael, I recall you have made some intelligent comments here, I do not know your abilities but I knew a physicist who solved mathematical problems while commuting and others who composed music and essays in their heads for transcription later.

Well congratulations on your new job. What an opportunity! 5 hours of your own each day to read and research (assuming you aren't driving.) Tell us about your new job.
