Common sense has a voice, and it belongs to Charles Koch. How right he is regarding the intrusiveness of government into the private sector. How is a person who is obviously in business to make money, expected to do so with so many suppressive regulations? Let the producers produce!

airfredd22 thank you. it is good to know that they did not choose to live off of their fathers success but have chosen to use those funds to further produce. I have known a few who chose to spend their inheritance on all forms of mind altering substances. these men are to be admired.

The puzzle is that there is hate and distrust for people who make a lot of money and the government tries to regulate them to "protect" the people. Read into that currying votes. And on the flip side government needs the producer to tax so it can hand out unearned money. Read into that currying votes. When you kick government regulations into high gear the producers should go on strike. It is the only thing that government understands, no money equals no votes due to job loss.

the Koch brothers are businessman, very successful businessman. how they got started I do not know, I do know that the primary component of products I make comes from them and had they not bough the failing company that originated the component I would not be in the business I am in. they are hated by all of the political world because all of the politicians are 2nd to non as the least productive part of our population or any population for that matter. when the Koch brothers and men like them are gone those who depend upon the useless politicians for their welfare will learn that they are left with nothing. all one has to do is look to the state of affairs in the rest of the world. we in my opinion are with in 40 years of joining the rest of the world. unfortunately the Kock brothers will not be seen on any of the tv media stations so they can express their real information of what they have accomplished.

      Re: wiggys,

The Koch Brothers got their start by inheriting their fathers small oil business. there were four brothers who in 1980's and 90's litigated over their inheritance. David and Charles Koch are the brothers who are usually referred to as the Koch Brothers in the media. They are the principal owners of the privately held Koch Industries and are politically active usually on the conservative side although they have also contributed large amounts to democrats over the years.

Ayn would reject the Koch brothers as being of the non-productive . The Koch's money came from building oil fields for Stalin in the old Soviet Union. Their wealth was generated in an anti-competitive, brutally regulated environment and enriched the regime of one of history's most horrific dictators.

Ayn rejected the popular usage of the word "selfish" which describes it as a regard for one's own welfare to the disregard of the well-being of others. This accurately describes the Koch brothers.

here's a quote from Hoover's Business Press. 1996. p. 286. ISBN 978-1-57311-009-9 : "In 1929 Koch [Fred C., the patriarch] took his process to the Soviet Union, but he grew disenchanted with Stalinism and returned home to become a founding member of the anticommunist John Birch Society." Fred C. Koch invented a petroleum refining process which was extraordinarily advanced for the day. Charles and David currently employ something like 70,000 people. this may not be selfish, in the common sense of the word.
